This might be a weird post, but I'm getting the impression that in these early days, content is content?

The idea is to prioritize some combination of foods that 1) are native to my area, 2) are available locally, 3) form a complete diet, and 4) have sustainable packaging. You'll notice a disturbing lack of fruits, vegetables and spices/flavors, but those are the things I can most easily get from my garden and local food pantry, so they're all covered by line item 1. See the second tab for stuff that's currently growing. It's still a work in progress, so I haven't yet accounted for all the calories one would need to survive. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Wow, that's pretty advanced already.

Maybe some stuff for fermenting food or preserving some garden produce for a later time?

I do have lots of equipment and do some home fermenting/preserving too, but I wasn't sure if I should put it in the list or not, since it's mostly purchasable stuff? And also since some of that is just these same ingredients but processed in some way, i.e. miso. Do you think I should? Or maybe I should have another tab that references this one but shows how much of each gets processed into various forms... I think that's a good idea, thanks!

This is pretty freaking cool. Would you mind if I made a copy of the base spreadsheet for my own household? Because I love a good planning spreadsheet but mine are never THIS good.

I know you mention calories, what about also adding somewhere what vitamins/minerals/macronutrients each food provides? Might help with the "complete diet" bit. Either way, nice.

Sure, go right ahead!

I hadn't considered tracking the various nutrients/calorie breakdown/etc just because I'm not very well versed in nutrition at all. I could try and make another (linked) tab for that with just the naive guidelines I find on Google, but I'd love somebody more knowledgable to poke through it after in case it's all wrong 😅
