False! She went on to command her own Obena class starship, the USS Archimedes.

(She did also appear in 1 other TNG episode after this, Samaritan Snare.)

Suspicion confirmed, thanks!

I keep getting her confused with the random character they sent on a spy mission and died. Who was that?

Sito Jaxa has been used as a reference for character growth on the last two episodes of LD.

Ensign Seito? The Bajoran?

[–] bingbong@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

The bajoran that was with Wesley in the academy, she lied during their trial surrounding the death of her team member during an unauthorized and dangerous shuttle piloting maneuver in an earlier episode.

The following year she was exiled to Mars, where she grew an extra boob

[–] Aganim@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Ah, the same Mars where they did the first prototyping for the Doctor's matrix.

At least she avoided the typical end of most side characters who got a name and speaking role for ~1 episode: dieing as a casualty between some special effects.

I thought she had her own command now?

[–] ThreeLawsDebugger@beehaw.org 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Captain Gomez She does indeed. Captain Gomez of the USS Archimedes.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Or so we're led to believe .... after a long absence, the Gomez that reappeared many years later was known to be quite two dimensional.

I don't care how inaccurate it is, I laughed

[–] Spot@startrek.website 8 points 1 year ago

Yeah, not shared for any accuracy by far! I watch both these channels and Fact or Fiction, or rather rotate play for my pets to watch and sometimes join on Pluto all the time, so it made me laugh.

I was shipping her hard with Geordie, then she vanished forever! :(

[–] GregorGizeh@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

IIRC that was the intent for her role, a quirky engineer as a love interest for geordi. But apparently their dynamics didn’t work out and she got dropped

[–] mercano@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

There’s also an ethical issue, dating someone directly under you in the chain of command.
