Thanks for starting this community! I've been mulling over ways to go about doing this in my yard and would love any pointers on where to start!

I was working on a beginners guide but, life happens. Or I guess, death in this case. Life has been complete chaos for about 8 months now so maybe I'll get back to it soon.
thank you for moving over! i was checking which subs were continuing the blackout over on reddit & the nastiness and misguided anger towards you & your post is disgusting. i hope it hasn't affected you too much & that this community will remain civil and welcoming as it grows to that scale
Thanks! After I locked the comments I got quite a few people who thanked me for participating. Guess the crazies just tell the loudest haha. Although the poll we decided to make does seem to be favoring not continuing the protest :(
Eh that poll was always going to go that way due to selection bias. Folks who would vote to keep it shut down didn’t even see the initial post, because they’re the same folks boycotting Reddit.
It's up for 3 days because honestly, I need that 3 days as a break from what my inbox was lmao
Take all the break you need for sure! But honestly time won’t help much with selection bias. More people will vote sure, but those more people still probably only found the vote because they came back to Reddit and therefore wouldn’t be of the mind to continue the shutdown.
Very true.
its sad to see but kind of expected for reddit users; a few days of personal 'struggle' would feel like more of an injustice than corporate greed. it's a uniquely cultish user base imo
I'm glad you restarted the community here. I used to post on Reddit under a different name. I had posted a step by step on prepping a site by desodding as well as other advice.
I hope to start taking photos of my own yard to share and contribute to the site.
Hell yes! If you remember the username I may be able to recover that and repost here for you.
My most recent account is: u/valerisii
I have a history of purging my data so the posts might be gone but I hope they still exist. There's a chance I still have the photos and if so, I could always recreate the how-to
Damn I'm not finding it, do you remember the title by chance? I think I remember seeing it when you posted but I've seen a few good ones over the years.
It probably had desodding in the title. Or desod. It turns out I do have the photos still and I could recreate the post if necessary. It is very likely that I deleted the original post because I used to purge my accounts regularly but have slacked on it in recent years.
OMG I found it lol just moved it over to imgur, feel free to make a new post here with that link!
That's it! I'll be happy to
I always preferred the community "Fuck Lawns". We are well past the point of "No" in this current stage of biodiversity collapse.
Fun fact, I mod that as well haha. I'm just not the owner and although that mod team does great, it's very disorganized. Like literally no one got back to me about the blackout so I just restricted the sub on my own.
