Two is the only even prime number, which makes it the oddest prime of them all.

If you can't type an umlaut it's spelt fuenf

[–] PeWu@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 year ago (4 children)

I was flabbergasted when I found out you can spell German B (can't type it without installing additional keyboard) as just "SS". My teacher didn't like that. I wonder why 🤔

[–] pascal@lemm.ee 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

In Switzerland (where German is used as language), the ß is not used, so everything is "ss".

[–] Maultasche@feddit.de 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Last time we used ss people didn't like it.

[–] Jumi@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's SS, please don't disregard capital letters just because you use English.

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Wouldn't want to upset the German high command would we?

[–] jana@leminal.space 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fun fact: 'ß'.toUpperCase() is 'SS'

[–] rockmeat@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

it's an outdated implementation then. As of the 29th of june 2017, the correct output should be ‘ẞ’

I'm guessing the original post was prime numbers and this was just slapped together.

[–] bappity@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago

it's interaction bait and I fell for it 😁

I'm worried about the 1265 people who liked that comment more than the one person who made it.

You only need something in common for the 6 first odd numbers and "teen" for it to be true for all odd numbers.

I can't believe no one has posted the infamous Tumblr thread yet

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZVwFa-Fz5Q

Edit: nvmd I'm blind, someone posted it in a reply

[–] soloner@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I don't get it... why did they say"two"?

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 year ago

The joke is that they thought they found an exception to this observation, and while they're right that two does not have an e in it, they're wrong in thinking it's an odd number

[–] Sombyr@lemmy.one 15 points 1 year ago

Perhaps this will enlighten you:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZVwFa-Fz5Q

And in case you don't feel like watching that: It's a meme harkening back to the stupidity displayed on a well known tumblr post, one of the many displays of which was somebody insisting 2 was odd.

Also see this Ace Attorney version, which is hilarious and the first place I'd heard of it:

Because replies correcting your obvious mistake drive engagement.

Does π count as a number? I mean there's no e in pi.

[–] shrugal@lemm.ee 30 points 1 year ago

Odd and even (aka parity) is only defined for integers.

[–] SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago (2 children)

There are 1.1557 e's in pi.

It's also not odd, so that doesn't work. But to answer your question, it is a number yes.

[–] lugal@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)
