Just letting the planet get hotter and hotter will have large risks for the natural world. We don't need to know there are consequences, we need to know the comparisons.
Geoengineering would destroy the world, reduce rainfall, cause shocks to ecosystems, cause droughts and famines, and kill millions of people due to sulfur dioxide pollution. It is literally genocide.
It's possible to do cloud seeding by shooting sea water into the air, which will likely be necessary as governments and corporations continue to stall fossil fuel reductions.
If geoengineering is framed as only using Sulfur dioxide, yeah of course it's bad, but we can geoengineer with non-toxic materials too, and that's worth investigating and using. We already geoengineered ourselves into the situation we're in, and it's likely it will have to be a part of the solution as well.
To be fair, releasing sulfur aerosols to emulate volcanic winter isn't the only type of geoengineering, just the easiest one
