You would only get through a few of them before sweeping gun reform laws were past

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 47 points 2 weeks ago

That’s a chance we’ll have to take.

Prohibition has worked really well in the US before.

It would take a lot longer than two months for people run out of not-yet-confiscated firearms or ammo, though (decades, probably), so effectively it doesn’t matter that much if they suddenly ban them, and I’d be thrilled with that outcome.

I mean what difference does it make if you murder someone or murder them with a banned weapon? The result of getting caught is being totally fucked either way.

sweeping gun reform laws

Except it was a printed gun. Might need sweeping printer reform laws too.

Thats on track for climate goals. Maybe the Earth can be saved

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

I mean, it’s worth a try, right?

[–] shittydwarf@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago

Pretty much the only way the earth can be saved

That is a fun fact. Subscribed.

On paper sure. But you never know how long it would take with inheritance.

The only way to know for sure is through experimentation.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Their kids would be…incentivized to give it away.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

I know the correct response is to shoot less children, but I can't help but see the value in lowering CEO survival rates.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't think this is accounting for inheritance.

[–] cmac@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

There's always inheritance tax, and splitting the fortune with siblings. Eventually someone down the line would only be getting $999 million.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

Sure, but that still would affect the time, which I'm guessing wasn't accounted for.

BOARDROOMS, not classrooms

[–] blindbunny@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago

Best two months of our lives

[–] morrowind@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago

How is this calculated, rate or absolute number

[–] thefluffiest@feddit.nl 4 points 2 weeks ago

Hmm, seems doable

[–] confusedbytheBasics@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

There are over 1,000 billionaires and about 2,500 school age children die by shooting each year. So more like 5 months.

[–] masquenox@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Now this is what I call educational.

[–] NickwithaC@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

"fun" fact.

[–] M1nds3nd@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Let's make it happen guys! (For legal reasons this is not an endorsement.)

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

That wasn't fun at all. You're a liar!
