I also use Breezy Weather, it is really aesthetically pleasing.

[–] anonvurr@lemmy.zip 8 points 6 days ago (3 children)

I used to use it, but now use Weather Master that's available through izzyonddroid. It's even more aesthetically pleasing imo and also let's you choose from more sources.

[–] iturnedintoanewt@lemm.ee 5 points 6 days ago

Nice... But it doesn't allow data sharing (to Gadgetbridge, for example). So it's a no go for me, thanks!

[–] FrameXX@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 5 days ago

Breezy weather also allows you to select weather data from multiple sources. It even let's you select which type of data to get from which provider.

[–] waddle_dee@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Whoa, thanks for this! I've been looking for something that isn't pixel weather, but matches that aesthetic because I'm partial to it.

[–] Stomata@sh.itjust.works 8 points 6 days ago

I use it because it doesn't need location services i can set it manually. But still it's good

[–] iturnedintoanewt@lemm.ee 5 points 6 days ago

I also use breezy, but i choose fdroid builds whenever possible. I appreciate the extra code monitoring/verification.

[–] Fisch@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 5 days ago

I download almost everything from F-Droid (I also use Droid-ify). I just use Obtainium for the 3 open source apps that aren't on F-Droid.

[–] mod_pp@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

OSS document ftw.

[–] ozymandias117@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I see some apps there that are also in F-Droid

Is there a big benefit to Obtanium for apps that are also released there? My understanding is that Obtanium doesn't do any key verification of APKs, so I've only used it as a last resort

[–] Stomata@sh.itjust.works 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

on Fdroid updates are slow ( you'll get update after 2-3 days) Obtainium works with app verifier.

[–] user_naa@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Why you need so fast updates? What is bad to have update after 3 days?

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 0 points 5 days ago

Just in case a state threat actor is going to take advantage of that zero day exploit the update is patching bro...

Duhhh

[–] Sunny 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Only a couple, what are the benefits of having them through Obtanium over fdroid other than faster updates?

[–] semperverus@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

None. And F-Droid provides guarantees of trustworthiness that go above what getting it directly from the source can do.

[–] foxitixation@lemmy.zip 5 points 6 days ago

11 including Obtainium

[–] mayhair@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 5 days ago
  • Iceraven
  • Nagram
  • Obtainium itself
  • RetroArch
  • Squawker
  • TachiyomiJ2K
  • Voyager
  • YouTube ReVanced
  • YouTube ReVanced Music
  • microG (for the last two)

How many of them are "manual"? I mean, ones you had to configure goes to scrape from whatever website they are hosted on, etc.

I only have eight apps, and even then only one "manual". It's the most important one though... 🦜

[–] Stomata@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

All of them are manually added. It took me around 6 months

[–] Cris16228@lemmy.today 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

A list? Or the ones you would suggest to people

List of apps on Obtanium

[–] dwindling7373@feddit.it 1 points 6 days ago
[–] Starfish@piefed.social 2 points 5 days ago

Can you recommend me some good ones?

I have 15 atm. Using mostly f-droid and Izzy for all the other apps that i cant find on obtainium.
Breezy Weather, GrapheneOS Camera, Cirrus, Notesnook, Transportr, Amaze File Manager, Ungoogled Chromium, Material Files, NewPipe, PDF Viewer GrapheneOS, Podverse, pr0gramm, RedReader, MEGA Android Client, Notally.

[–] faintwhenfree@lemmus.org 2 points 6 days ago

I have 20, but anytime an fdroid app updates I move it to obtainium. I don't have time to review all in one go. But I'm sure the number will get to around 50 eventually when I'm done moving all f-Droid items to obtainium

One. Lawnchair.

[–] SolarPunker 1 points 5 days ago

Only one: SeriesGuide

[–] muhyb@programming.dev 1 points 5 days ago

I just use Droidify. I guess I don't need cutting-edge stuff on my phone.

[–] rikudou@lemmings.world 1 points 5 days ago
  1. I only use 15, though.
[–] jlh@lemmy.jlh.name 1 points 5 days ago

I would rather compile the apps myself or trust fdroid than trust 50+ developers to have safe builds.

10, I probably could have more, but some are auto updated with Droidify and sometimes their inbuilt updater, tbh it is kinda a stressing factor to me knowing that I could have more apps there but I maybe don't know lol.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago (2 children)

4 but none other than obtaining seems to be getting any updates lately, so kinda moot

[–] AFC1886VCC@reddthat.com 2 points 6 days ago

Lmao same. Obtainium feels like the app that you use for Obtainium to update itself.

[–] Stomata@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

Maybe you don't use that many apps
