Maybe someone will throw a shoe at him.

This should be interesting. There's a reason why Harris hasn't gone there in person. And Trump is probably even more hated by the Arabs. I wonder how civil this will be.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Idk. I posted this piece from Medhi where he interviews Micheal Moore, which if you want to get a read on MI, thats your guy.

https://lemmy.world/post/21487386

The consensus I got from those two is that MI is lost for Harris since she didn't/ isn't going to pivot. I know we're seeing other data on women voters, but like, I don't see a path to the WH without Michigan for Harris. I just can't imagine how she could lose MI, but keep WI and PA, AND THEN ALSO pick up NC or GA or some other sunbelt state.

Its just very very difficult for me to imaging losing MI but picking up somewhere else. MI should be in the bag, incontestable.

[–] Sundial@lemm.ee 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Thanks for the read. I'll take a look at it when I get the chance.

MI should be in the bag, incontestable.

Yeah it should have been but the Democrats, and Harris, royally fucked this up with all that they've done and supported the past 13 months of this conflict. Trump going to Dearborn just goes to show how close it is to turning red.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago

The fuck are we gonna do at this point. The only possible saving grace is a literal tsunami of women voters. Harris really needed to be sweeping/ taking at least 5-7 of the swing states, to keep this thing out of the hands of the supreme court. That seems like an impossibility at this point.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I know a lot of people have been saying the polling shouldn't be trusted, but they always underestimate Trump and he's basically taking every swing state even still. Harris only has like .8% in one or two which in reality is like +3 Trump.

We're so fucked it's stupid.

Harris was on track to end up at around +4, +5, +6 if she would have been able to follow through on the momentum she gathered going into the convention. She took all that good will and threw it in the trash to spur Muslism voters and anti-war voters, then went on to put Liz-FUCKING-Cheney on stage.

I can tell you the exact moment Harris started to lose this election and it was right here:

Ruwa Romman explains what happened at the DNC

It was the moment Jeff Duncan, a pro-abortion Republican, got the stage instead of a Palestinian.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah but have you considered that the military industrial complex and Isreal are more important than people's lives and even our own country?!

"Never underestimate the astounding ability for Democrats to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory."

/wrist :(

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I mean, apparently going along with the donor class is more important than winning the election.

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

That weird city where the dem mayor sold out for Trump? Shocker

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I guess Harris/ Waltz couldn't find the MI exit.

Bill Clinton did find the time to get to MI though. And he.. oh no he..

Bill Clinton Justifies The Mass Killings Of Palestinians In Racist Michigan Speech

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Oh fuck. Dammit, Bill. Just make it clear that the party has completely abandoned them.

Alienate voters you need. Blame them for any loss you earn in so doing. Fucking hell, why are we doing this again?

[–] ClassStruggle@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The Muslim populations in the swing states that Biden won in 2020 is larger than the margin of votes he received. They've learned absolutely nothing from 2016.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They learned that they can browbeat the left into silence and get everything they want if they just lose.

He's trying to make the pro-Netanyahu case to them

Israeli forces have to kill tens of thousands of Palestinians because they are allegedly human shields for Hamas.

I.e. Hamas is evil and it's their fault that Israeli bullets ended up inside of innocent Gazians. There is an element of truth to this, but as the article points out,

It should be noted that the Israeli military has recently been accused of using Palestinian civilians as human shields in their Gaza operations.

The only good thing about this is that it makes Harris look more moderate by comparison.

Hold up... See, I recognize your username. So suddenly, you want the Democrats to win, despite your claims that anyone that supports them is pro-genocide?

Shouldn't you welcome this "mask off" moment from the Democrats?

Why the change of heart? Or is it just that you're allergic to acting in good faith?

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

So suddenly, you want the Democrats to win, despite your claims that anyone that supports them is pro-genocide?

I want them to win. It's why I voted for Harris. I also want Democrats to stop supporting genocide. I don't claim that anyone who supports Democrats is pro-genocide. I claim that anyone who takes shrieking offense at people who don't like genocide supports genocide. And of course, anyone who is actively selling Netanyahu weapons is literally acting in support of genocide.

Shouldn’t you welcome this “mask off” moment from the Democrats?

I'm sure you do since Clinton has sided with Netahyahu. But no. I want Democrats to stop supporting genocide. Are you that incapable of conceiving of the concept that we shouldn't be supporting Netanyahu and his genocide?

Or is it just that you’re allergic to acting in good faith?

You started this comment by lying about my position. Not being mistaken, not exaggerating, just outright lying.

To be fair, it's Harris on the ballot, not (Bill) Clinton.

And, to her credit, Harris said this, https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/harris-appears-to-agree-with-protester-accusing-israel-of-genocide-what-he-s-talking-about-it-s-real/ar-AA1szCVt

This gives me optimism that post-election, Harris will allow her views to evolve in the right direction here.

Remember when Obama was against same-sex marriage? https://www.cbsnews.com/news/obama-still-opposes-same-sex-marriage/ But he was open to having his mind changed, and eventually he did, https://www.cnn.com/2012/05/09/politics/obama-same-sex-marriage/index.html

This is what we need to aim for with Harris

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

To be fair, it’s Harris on the ballot, not (Bill) Clinton.

I voted for Harris.

Jesus. None of you read. Not one. Just skip immediately to pasting your lecture.

[–] abff08f4813c@j4vcdedmiokf56h3ho4t62mlku.srv.us 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hey, I wasn't disputing that you voted for Harris - my "lecture" was to convince others in your situation that there's hope that Democrats will stop "supporting genocide" as you put it, after Harris wins.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

On second read, I see that I was wrong to jump to conclusions. Apologies.

Hey, no worries. Glad we got that clarified though - I was sweating buckets.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Incoming: "I've been the Greatest President Ever™©® for Muslims and all Arabs! They all know this, you know this, you all love me and I hate you! I mean love, it's like a hate love which is the best! Only the best Muslim bans! Palestinians are rats!"

News: Somehow after getting on stage, lying to and then flipping off the entire audience he still got their vote.

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Wait for the shots of the crowd and the zero women who will attend.
