Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

As an island nation with a scarcity of resources, you'd think Japan would be more interested in transportation solutions that don't involve regular delivery of fuel.

The regular delivery of fuel is what powers the grid. The grid is what powers electric cars. In Japan, EVs are just ICE cars with extra steps, which is why they pursued hydrogen so ardently.

Unfortunate their renewable potential is so low.

Maybe they'll figure out space based power https://www.japan.go.jp/kizuna/2023/08/japans_long-planned_photovoltaics.html

What about offshore wind?

Thta's still more efficient than burning fossil fuel in ICE cars though, isn't it?

Their mass transit is great by any standard.

Commuter EVs are a step back. At a commodity price point, just take trains and buses.

They have some of the most heavily used rail stations in the world, but still a large chunk of the population has a car. 85 million cars registered in a population of about 124 million people.
