“He has introduced this new kind of ‘angertaiment’ where you just get people upset and then you podcast about it, and you write a book about it, and you make some money on it, but you’re not actually there when people need you. Like when the lights went out, when 30 million Texans were relying on a senator to spring into action, he went to Cancun. That’s who he is,” Allred said.

I think I'm cheering for Allred.

not that I have a say or anything. Anyone that can take on the shitstained bag of smashed asshole that is ted cruz...

Anyone can take him on, but it takes a special kind of breakout victory to crack the stranglehold that Texas' corrupt government has on voter controls and active intimidation. Mark my words, Paxton and Abbot are going to be actively clearing out entire polling stations to make sure the state stays the course.

Paxton is the rancid stain left behind by the Piss Baby.

I agree with yoru sentiment they will fuck things up in every way they can. but I like Allred's tone here, just saying.

Yeah. You couldn’t make me go to texas but I’d love a texas I’d be willing to visit.

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 235 points 3 weeks ago

"So to every Texas woman at home and every Texas family watching this, understand that when Ted Cruz says he’s pro life, he doesn’t mean yours."

Great line

Allred isn’t my ideal candidate for senate but he’s still light years better than the zodiac killer of Cancun, and I’ll happily vote for him the first day of early voting here.

I do not like that boy Ted Cruz

He really makes me spit my booze

Right wing fascism is what he’ll choose

With unlawful acts and violent coups

Steel toed boots is what I would use

To curb stomp his face and see him lose

He needs to go back to Canada. Or cuba.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 35 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (3 children)

While you could argue he is not a natural born US citizen despite both of his parents being US citizens who were temporarily living in Canada, if you wanted to be a dick, trying to send him to Cuba is just being racist.

And needlessly cruel to the Cuban people.

[–] dezmd@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

In all fairness, I expect the Cuban people would handle the problem rather quickly.

[–] Johnmannesca@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I still question how he was able to run for president and everyone was so caught up with Obama conspiracies.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 1 points 3 weeks ago

https://www.factcheck.org/2015/03/ted-cruzs-presidential-eligibility/

There isn't a serious legal debate that he isn't a "natural born citizen" but it's possible that someone could bribe enough SC members to decide otherwise.

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 weeks ago

No givesies backsies.

[–] DokPsy@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

[–] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 16 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
