Maybe it's just me, but it looks like they're trying to catch and eat the butterfly and this might be anthropomorphizing. After all, small crustaceans of a similar size like Antarctic krill are an important part of their natural diet, so maybe they're instinctively like "oh shit whaddup".

Let's double anthropomorphize instead. The butterfly knew they wanted to eat him and also that they couldn't fly so's straight trollin
Triple anthropomorphization: the butterfly was also in on it, egging them on intentionally to get a closer look at the penguins.
Wait, how should I anthropomorphize them? I also thought they wanted to eat the butterfly, is that the wrong way to look at it? I find them very cute.
I think a lot of people are imagining this as the penguins being fascinated with the butterfly and chasing it around to get a better look at it kind of like human children chasing one. It's nonetheless, I agree, adorable seeing them hopping around trying to catch it.
Who said my human child wouldn't also try to eat it upon catching it???
Buttfly 😳
Oops, LOL! Fixed.

now if this were a video game would you rather play as the penguin or the butterfly?
Why not both? A game where it is 5v1, one player as a butterfly and the other 5 as penguin. Butterfly needs to survive a given time and has a "height gauge". They can only fly so high for a couple of seconds.
Make it like Dead by Daylight where there is different insects with different abilities and different animals that try to eat them.
