Union should ask for the immediate firing of the top brass, rehireing of all the safety and engineering personnel they fired, and a public apology from said upper management.

Then, the top brass gets sued into the Shadow Realm.

Is a promise from Boeing even worth the paper it's written on?

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 21 points 2 months ago

The promise is worth the NLRB's ability to enforce the contract from any sidestepping or funny business Boeing management may try to pull.

The future strength of Labor in the US hangs in the balance depending on the result of November's election.

When the promise is "if you narc you're dead"

The offered contract also notably includes "a commitment to build Boeing’s next new airplane in the Puget Sound region," Boeing said

A social media post 40 years from now:

"TIL Back in 2032 Boeing temporarily went into business building tiny single engine 4 person private jet, but only sold one before shutting down the production line to check a box on an agreed union labor contract."

Boeing killed John Barnett

For context, the headline leaves out that this contract proposal still needs to be ratified by members, who are mostly not happy with the companies minimal concessions.

I think it may be time to buy Boeing stock soon. I think major investors are finally seeing the writing on the wall, and are going to push for an engineer driven revival. These things take time and effort for such a behemoth, but with the right leadership and investor backing, it can be done.
