I remove my clothes and begin running towards it as fast as I can

Get the Shotgun. stroll right out the front door ask him "can I help you? And pump the shotgun.

That'll fix any idiots attempt at trolling, or attempt at home invasion.

Great 🤣 👍

It's 2024, we can buy cheap semi-auto shotguns now that don't require manually pumping to action the bolt.

But you lose the dramatic effect

[–] BaroqueInMind@lemmy.one 3 points 1 month ago (3 children)

The dramatic effect is witnessing the trespassing creep transform instantly into pink mist and various chunks of unidentified meat.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And then you find out it was the two neighbor kids in a coat.

[–] BaroqueInMind@lemmy.one 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

beautiful but isolated area

implies no neighbor kids to murder

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't really see isolated to mean completely isolated, more along the lines of "it's a couple miles into town and ten acres between me and the neighbors" but fair enough.

[–] BaroqueInMind@lemmy.one 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Your personal feeling of a definition of a word does not align with the reality of the actual definition of the word "isolated", so you can think what you want, just realize that it's wrong.

Autism, huh? Good luck with that.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Ideally the dramatic effect from the pumping action renders the need to use it unnecessary.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The sound of a 12 gauge shotgun being pumped is the universal sound of "wrong house, motherfucker".

I know, and you can manually cycle a round by pulling the bolt back and releasing to get the same effect on a modern semi-auto action.

You're arguing it's cooler to crank start your Ford Model T at the beginning of a drag race against other modern race cars nearby becuase it has legacy. That's really fucking dumb. Buy a modern weapon.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

It's not nearly the same effect. Additionally, a pump action shotgun is not a Model T Ford. I can pop two clays at the skeet range with my pump, just as easily as I can with my over-under. I shot a Benelli auto a few weeks ago at the range and felt that my Mossberg pump was more accurate. That could just be due to my familiarity with it, but the point stands. A pump action shotgun is a fine weapon. Sure, it's not as quick as a semi-auto in a combat situation, but I highly doubt that's going to matter for 99.9% of legal gun owners.

[–] Couldbealeotard@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

The car equivalent would be revving the engine at standstill. That would be pointless in an EV.

[–] redisdead@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

It is cooler to crank start a model T though

Like modern cars are 'push this button to start' that's boring as fuck.

[–] Klanky@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago

It’s a tourist from Pacific Drive :-)

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

It definitely will after I get my 12g shotgun.

[–] uservoid1@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh, this is Bob the neighbor. He does not bother local people.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 3 points 1 month ago

As long as they've been to the Harvest Festival.

You will join the Feast, right?

[–] M137@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I no longer live in a beautiful and isolated area. Not that I moved, but it's not beautiful anymore and the isolation is clearly gone.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

What a sad development. My best friend's parents used to live miles outside of town. When we were teenagers we'd lay in the middle of the 2 lane road in front of their house and stargaze. Now they're surrounded by track homes, the road is 6 lanes with non-stop traffic, and there's a huge shopping complex across the street from their house. It's been great for their property value, but not good at all for the lifestyle they chose.

That’s just the mascot from the local community college, it’s just getting some fresh air.

[–] montar@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 month ago

Grab my hunting knife. Hide it under coat. Call my dogs. Go meet that thing. Knife has to be hidden in case it turns out peaceful like i am. (peaceful is not harmless)

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 3 points 1 month ago

That would really confusing since the only thing I can see from my kitchen window is my shop's wall a couple meters away.
