Hard disagree. Elvis was still enormously popular at the tail end of his career. You're doing The King a serious disservice with this comparison.

Idk, I'm pretty sure trump is gonna get at least fifty million votes in less than 3 months, probably closer to eighty million like last time. He's obviously a fascist piece of shit that's falling apart and frothing at the mouth, but he's still wildly popular with like 30% of voters, and like 40% of voters tend to not show up, flip a coin, or just go by name recognition. A shitload of people are not paying attention. This election will be really close, despite what an absolute dumpster fire that dingleberry incarnate is. I think it would be incredibly foolish to get too comfortable while so much is at stake. The guy is still threateningly popular with a large and passionate base, just like Elvis in his later years.
probably closer to eighty million like last time
Both parties benefited enormously from universal mail in voting in 2020. But we ended that, so I suspect we're going to see participation crater as a result.
A shitload of people are not paying attention.
A lot of media is nakedly sensationalist and it causes people to tune out. Meanwhile, Trump isn't meaningfully more fascist than your average small town sheriff or groyper congressman.
He's going to win the base GOP just like every Republican does. But he's lost the insurgent rizz he enjoyed in 2016 and the "unbeatable" mystique from 2020. He's not really reinventing himself, either. Artists like Elvis, Cher, Madonna, and Sting had to do that a more than a few times to stay relevant.
I think it would be incredibly foolish to get too comfortable while so much is at stake
I don't think watching Trump flame out will change any anti-Trump voter's behavior. He's too much of a heel. Liberals would love to run up the score on him.
But among conservatives? I think he's seeing attrition.

"Your average small town sheriff or groyper congressman" haven't tried to overthrow the rightful United States government and install themselves as a dictator. Trump has.
“Your average small town sheriff or groyper congressman” haven’t tried to overthrow the rightful United States government
It's easy to look tough and strong when your only comparison is trump or Biden.
I've been saying for years whichever bowed out first would win their party the election, because pretty much anyone else in the country was more electable.
trump will never back out, and he'll keep acting more and more deranged which should translate to more Dem.seats in Congress.
It's why we need to be pushing Kamala to the left already. The party can not afford to get House, Senate, and presidency again just to seat on their hands till midterm.
We need to push for Kamala to have plans ready to go and public for day one or we risk her pulling the "and now I'll look into my promises" bullshit that Joe did.
If we waste time we lose voters. If we hit the ground running and maintain momentum we could just end this republican nonsense all together. Relegate them to a small minority in office with no effective power on a national level.
It really doesn't take much, voters have very low standards right now. She really has a golden opportunity or she can side with the wealthy.
The party can not afford to get House, Senate, and presidency again just to seat on their hands till midterm.
mahn ive been wanting to see this action my entire life. they have never. and i mean never come through in the last 50 years.
im skeptical that this is the cycle it all changes, but ill be happy to be wrong
It’s just not how it works out. As soon as one party has the power all the internal divisions and in-fighting come out.
I saw fat (sweaty) Elvis with my grandmother back in 1976 about a year before he died. So if timeline plays out…
Quick, when did you see trump? 2023?!?
I don't think this is true at all. His base thinks he's a king, and the politics he's pushed on the republican party are dangerous, and aren't going away even if he is out of the picture.
There are many people behind Trump pulling the strings. Trump is just the face of it.
youre mistaken in thinking that fat elvis had no fans. they were just as rabid. the analogy fits perfectly.
There are many people behind Trump pulling the strings.
This is an excellent quote. He used to be frightening (politically, at least) but now he just looks like an angry, hateful, barely coherent old man. He’s the cranky, repugnant relative that you avoid at family gatherings.
He has become Fat Elvis, destroyer of crullers.
“The man who brings me my scarves and my water, Mr. Charlie Hodge!”
I see AI-generated images, I downvote.
Good for you 👍
No one cares buddy. Sorry.
