Marvel is back on top with “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The comic-book movie made a staggering $205 million in its first weekend in North American theaters, according to studio estimates Sunday. It shattered the opening record for R-rated films previously held by the first “Deadpool” ($132 million) and notched a spot in the top 10 openings of all time.

Including international showings, where it’s racked up an addition $233.3 million from 52 markets, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is looking at a global opening of over $438.3 million.

Audiences aren't sick of superhero movies, they're sick of BAD superhero movies.

And that was before the Sunday numbers were in. It could easily have added another $50 to $75 million domestic.

I believe they include projections for Sunday as well as most people probably bought their tickets ahead of time.

It was $211 million from Thursday through Sunday domestic, $444 million worldwide.

Looking forward to seeing this next weekend!

You might want to binge Loki in that time if you haven't seen it already. It's not like required viewing but you'll have a better understanding of things if you've seen it.

Seeing it tonight because people online keep trying to spoil it.

I don't even mind spoilers most of the time.

Just wanted to avoid that opening weekend rush but it looks like I might need to wait a few more weekends. Lol

Are the numbers adjusted for inflation though?

It's really quite a accomplishment considering people aren't going to movies like they did pre-covid. I saw the matinee and spent $19.50: $8 for admission, $11.50 for a medium soda and medium popcorn. Highway fucking robbery.
