Or make him a Bond villain.

[–] Death_Equity@lemmy.world 79 points 3 months ago (2 children)

This.

They can even have him return as the same Bond that defected when he learned that the "good" guys are the bad guys. Then they can do the classic dropping of the curtain and new Bond questions everything he knows because everything old Bond is saying holds water.

I'm not sure brosnan is canon anymore. But Brosnan as a bone villain would be incredible to see.

[–] shyguyblue@lemmy.world 41 points 3 months ago (2 children)

bone villain

We have an action scene, then boom, cut to hard core penetration. Then another action scene, back to full penetration, and it just keeps flipping back and forth until the movie just kinda, ends.

Will they pull out in time?! Find out on the next 007 bone finger

🤣🤣🤣

Didn't they already do this with GoldenEye and Skyfall?

[–] Death_Equity@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

It is a trope and Bond films have never been about originality and groundbreaking writing.

[–] Ledivin@lemmy.world 11 points 3 months ago

Came here to say this - he looks way more like villain material in this picture

[–] gerbler@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

Remake goldeneye with Brosnan as the villain

[–] bobs_monkey@lemm.ee 4 points 3 months ago

With his native accent

Clearly this is the correct suggestion. Could even tie it in with the story.
"Former 007 agent unhappy with the way the world goes, changes sides and becomes supervillain. He knows everything 007 knows, because he's been one!"

Practically writes itself.

"For England, James?”

"No. Tomorrow never dies, the world is not enough, and I’d rather die another day with a golden eye on my own terms. This one is for me.”

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

And skyfall

He was in my opinion the best Bond, but he got the worst scripts and directors.

[–] accideath@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (2 children)

GoldenEye begs to differ, imo.

[–] UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Golden eye was good, but the last one...wtf was going on with the ice and all the colors and so on. Kinda reminds me of Batman and Robin with Mr, freeze.

[–] accideath@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Oh yea, the other Brosnan era films are whack. But GoldenEye is among my favourite Bond films.

Tell that to George Lazenby.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 3 points 3 months ago

He stepped back of his own accord though.

Dalton got it rough.

[–] dalekcaan@lemm.ee 18 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They did it with Sean Connery in Never Say Never Again.

Ayyy GoldenEye as told by Natalia (or Boris?)

Make him the new M overseeing his replacement 007 with the James Bond alias.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 12 points 3 months ago

I think most Bond actors finish out their tenure hating the job, unfortunately.

[–] HomerianSymphony@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago (1 children)

But this time he should use his real Irish accent.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Then maybe you shouldn’t be living HEEEEEEEEEERE!

Man you take GoldenEye out of his repertoire and he might be the worst Bond. Do people not remember this most of his movies were bad. Hell I like the world is not enough more than most people did and most people hated it.

[–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Craig would still be worse. Especially if you did the same and dropped Casino Royale.

I want a dark post apocalyptic Logan style Bond with Pierce Brosnan. Take the franchise into a hard left turn for just one movie.

[–] EABOD25@lemm.ee 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

An aged 007 trying to retire, and then there's a world crisis where James Bond and Ethan Hunt have to team up... I'd watch that

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Ethan Hunt sounds like Cockney rhyming slang.

Even without Eon's blessing, now would be a killer time to have one or more Bond actors play "retired" spooks, in some high-stakes action thriller. Feature Brosnan, tease that Craig is in it, try not to leak that Dalton shows up in act two.

Im a big fan of his anti-Bond role in the Matador. There he plays the least suave non-governement assasin that never finds love. And I love that role...
