Does anyone know the official way to search for topics in this app?

I was able to search and add something but it doesn't seem right.

When I "search" it can't find https://lemmy.ml/c/sopranica

I also can't get the official Lemmy app to find slrpnk.net as an instance.

Jerboa definitly works with slrpnk.net, you just need to type it in. I think it only has a small list of recommended instances built in.

No idea why the Sopranica community isn't showing up in the search. Maybe try subscribing from the webinterface and see if that changes anything.

I can only get Jerboa to work, the Lemmy app from Fdroid is the one that can't find slrpnk

Ah, you mean the "Lemmur" app? That one has been abandoned by the developer and is broken.
