Fuck me I'm sick of the noise of mowers and whipper snippets and leaf blowers and shit.

Both days if it wasn't one thumpy noisy engine it was another. Dunno if I've got misophonia or what but the constant noise was driving me nuts. As soon as one neighbour finishes the next one kicks off.

I think it's the waste that annoys me the most - mowing and snipping and blowing driveways just to do it all again next weekend. Litres of fuel being burned for nothing.

I'm fully with you on the the hate of that noise, my personal most disliked is the super loud leaf blowers urgh.

I've noticed some are going electric but Stihl is Stihl overrated and all of these electric tools have their own stupid proprietary battery connectors allowing them to stupidly inflate the price. I also can't stand thinking of the all of the plastic pollution. We need a better solution for edges

Depending on what battery eco-system you buy into, the batteries can be used for a lot of different stuff.

I have Victa and Snapper battery powered tools, so just limited to mowers, snippers, blowers, etc.

My Dad uses Ozito stuff, so on top of the above he can use the batteries for drills, vacuums, angle grinders and other power tools.

That's just it though; I'd like them to be compatible with each other so there's competition for battery quality and no lock-in

That's fair. It would be nice to have what ever battery, and be able to plug into which ever tool (might be a market for after market battery adaptors). I feel like the brand name of the tool is some kind of indicator of the quality of the accompanying battery as well.

Modular power supplies have a similar problem in the PC building world. The cables are not interchangeable between brands due to different pin-outs (5V, 12V, etc), and sometimes not even interchangeable between the same brand with different models of power supplies.

I read a thing a while ago that the EU is going to force a common battery connector on tools similar to the way they forced USB C on phones.

I'm keen. Glad the EU is doing something about ewaste, cause the US and Asia (us included) sure ain't.

I'm envious of their government so many good ideas actually getting through
