The whole love angle seemed SUPER stretched too…

Trinity and Neo never had any chemistry in any of the movies, so the stories being centered around their unbreakable love always seemed dumb to me. It's just an extra part of the core story that doesn't need to be there at all.

I agree. I love the first matrix movie, but if it has one flaw, it's that cheesy forced love-destiny thing. They were literally acquaintance's prior to that, friend's is pushing it, let alone lovers.
