Ah okay, I've looked that up, That's insane.

For anyone wondering, the term did not originate with that deportation operation but looks like it came from a New York times article in 1920.

That, to me, aside from the massive number of deaths, is one of the craziest parts. "Let's racially profile a disadvantaged group and throw them out like garbage into barren dessert. To add insult to injury, let's name the whole plan after a well-known slur and feign ignorance."
