Maybe you're too young to remember, but the exact same thing happened in the US after 9/11

The vast majority of people are only seeing what they're encouraged to see on their mainstream news channels. They don't necessarily support it, they don't even know this shit is happening. People supported the so-called "war on terror" long after it was clear it was wrong.

It must be so difficult to recognise the difference between agenda driven propaganda and genuine reporting, especially if the infrastructure for free press isn't there. It's really sad when you think about it

"Free press" is a myth tbh

Profitable news media has to appease its owners and sponsors and inside sources and viewers; they self-censor in order to maximize viewership and not offend their owners or sponsors or inside sources. Public media isn't much better, since they're still reliant on donors and government support. Independent not-for-profit media is good, but while they tell the truth their resources are smaller than the rest. Big social media is algorithmic garbage that is meant to drive engagement and has no interest in actually informing the public about anything.

But on the bright side, the free press has never really existed, so really we're not worse off than any other point in history lol

Some people haven’t read Manufacturing Consent, or the better book that came out two years before, Inventing Reality.

Good ol' Chomsky.

If people don't like reading books I reconnend literally any YouTube video with him discussing Israel and comparing it to foreign relations in American history.
