I'd wait for a bit and see how things turn out. Sometimes there is internet drama in some of the projects. And it seems justified in this case. But it's still internet drama. We have to hope in the end the toxic or incompetent people go away and it's not everyone else who has to leave and the project becomes abandoned. But as of now I don't think there are any immediate consequences for you as a user. I mean you've trusted the same people for years and this seems to also have gone on for years. The only difference is, now we know. If there was a viable alternative, I'd switch for ethical reasons... To not support those people. But I don't think there is a good alternative for me. And secondly I don't think I know enough to judge people and a story with many details and things that had happened, based off of 2 short texts on the issue tracker.
