Now, they claim that in 3 days while the hospital was under siege by the IDF, Hamas concreted up all of the tunnels so perfectly that they can't even show evidence of said tunnels being blocked off.

How am I defending Hamas by pointing out blatant lies by the IDF?

The US is just using the same 'intelligence' Israel has, there's no evidence they've got their own sources (or they wouldn't have been surprised by Oct 7).

If Hamas had enough opsec to secretly prepare an attack with thousands of fighters, there's no reason anything would've changed afterwards.

To begin with, the question itself is mistaken. US intelligence is not independently gathered. The US intelligence community is making statements based on things that they're told by Israeli government sources. So they aren't making anything up, because all they're doing is repeating what someone else said.

Second, there is no single motive that captures the US's goals. Different people within the US government have their own objectives. Supporting Israel is one objective that some people have, in addition to all of their other objectives.
