Wait, hold up, I play OW2. How is that an argument against using Lemmy?
I'm sorry, but it's time for you to leave. /s
But seriously. It's not an argument against using Lemmy. It's more, that OW's community has a reputation for being toxic and he does not want them on here.
People downplay the reasons people get toxic on games like OW
When you're forced to rely on other people to help you achieve a goal and the majority of those people have the cognition of a brick it gets pretty hard to stay calm.
It's why I quit playing team based games like it in the first place. I wasn't having fun and I'd get pissed over small shit.
I don't think being toxic in a game translates to being toxic in a meme community.
Although lemmy communities for league and OW (tbh most of lemmy) are much much less inactive the than their reddit counterparts.
Getting downvoted because lemmy dickriders got upset
Probably that those games have massive reddit communities?
what SomeBoyo said, but also because of stereotypes. You can kinda assume someone's personality by what a they like, and this is not a very joy sparking track record.
I feel like I have to note: I have nothing aginst you.
Oh, I understand, I didn't try to start an argument by my comment. Was just curious as to how OW is nowadays perceived from outside, and the picture is kind of sad. But eh, the game is fun as long as I keep text and voice chat disabled and just play for myself - so the community complaints are absolutely valid.
Bad, just check steam lol. I myself even prefer tf2 over OW anyday. tried it, it's really not that fun tbh. At least for me fun in a multiplayer game needs to have a layer of communication, and likeable devs as it's most likely a live service. OW had the most unfun players I've ever met, and I have a friend added on Discord from League for crying out loud (my bar isn't that high). Don't even get me started the fun I had in tf2, we roleplayed once that my love interest (who was a nother player, in rp) cheated on me, because he got auto balanced. Another time in tf2 we talked about periods (and maybe drinking it? I can't remember).
In OW my greatest memory was we idolized someone called Dave. Even that was half assed, as only 1 guy from the enemy joined in on the fun and he even quit half way thru. It wasn't that good of a match, but it was the best that I can recall.
I get that some ppl enjoy these games, but it housing the worst collection of users I've ever seen (and I played league, saying it again)
sorry ranted a bit TL;DR: OW's community is bad imo.
You're good, man, I understand. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I'm not going to pretend the situation you've described isn't true. I've never played TF2 when it was more active, sadly, so I can't really compare it myself.
Steam review bombing aside, I find the actual gameplay fun, so I pop in couple times a week for some hours. Especially with the current season being really good for supports, which is my preferred role.
I'll probably stop playing for a couple of months once the balance shifts over or if I get bored, until something new and interesting enough gets added (which was largely the reason I even came back to the game). Until then, I'll just stay in my bubble and hope for the best.
Best of luck to you! But side note: tf2's hitting all time high players recently.
