So I'm trying to subscribe to the fountainpens community at sopilu.xyz and it seems I'm incapable of doing so.

I think the problem is that the name of their community in their own instance is not "/c/fountainpens", but "/c/fountainpens@sopuli.xyz", as you can see from their instance here, so when I look for "!fountainpens@sopuli.xyz" in our search bar, I get nothing. Even if I try typing on the browser searchbar "https://slrpnk.net/c/fountainpens@sopuli.xyz" or "https://slrpnk.net/c/fountainpens@sopuli.xyz@sopuli.xyz", I get nothing.

Am I making a mistake somewhere? And if not, is there a way to make this work, or do I have to have an account at sopuli.xyz to post in this community?

Ah, that is one of those bugged communities.

We also have one of those over here: https://slrpnk.net/c/buyitforlife@slrpnk.net

This happens if someone with an account from another instance is made moderator and then changes the logo or description of the community. As a result the Lemmy home instance of this community thinks it is a remote community even though it is still on the same server.

I think this bug has been fixed in the development version of Lemmy and those communities should become easily accessible again with the next version.

Edit: but it also looks like they moved to https://wayfarershaven.eu/c/fountainpens which is accessible from here.

Oh buggers! Well I'll keep checking to see if the update fixes it. And they did talk about moving the community but were not sure, and some people kept posting in the original one, so not sure where they stand rn.

Thanks for the help though! :)
