Really depends on what you want and or need. Good general things to look for are riding position (biggest indicator is drop bars vs flats vs cruiser bars), mounting points for racks and fenders, and reliability. Try to avoid buying from department stores as the bikes are often mass produced and of very low quality.
I would go to a bike shop and ask to test ride some cheap hybrids or cruisers.
I want to second this, should definitely ask a bike shop to try some out and get a feel for what will suit you.
After that its up to budget and time investment. You can get pretty good bikes for pretty cheap used, but of course they may come with some work to do. And if you can afford new and prefer a low time investment option, then that is at least equally as good!
Sounds good. I was hopping to get something that I can hand down to my S/O if I find myself getting more serious but I'm now considering this restored 3 speed my local shop has. They want $300.00
My goodness that is the chromest thing I've ever seen, I love it! If it's restored properly and it feels smooth while riding it, I'd say it would definitely be a fun cruiser.
