A portable car tire inflator (with build in battery).

I bought one that connects to the 12v outlet (what we used to call the "cigarette lighter slot") in the car. It's come in handy.

I'm 62 and have just bought my first ever.

What's the use case for these? Not needing to fill up tires at the gas station?

[โ€“] Sarmyth@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Pretty much. Mine was cheap, but my favorite feature is the targeted auto stop. So I set it to a pressure, and it stops when it reaches it automatically, which no gas station pump ever did for me. So I can get them all to the exact same pressure without stopping to check where I'm at a bunch mid fill-up.

Ah ok - if the gas station doesn't have such a machine that's pretty useful. My next gas station has such a compressor, I enter the pressure and it does everything automatically once the hose is connected.

Anyways, keeping your tires at correct pressure probably pays for such a pump in a short time.

I legit just bought one yesterday lol

What a coincidence!

I have a Ryobi one, technically seperate battery but it's so good it's worth it.

Attach, set the PSI I want, hit go, it stops on its own, no awkwardly crouching down holding a button or keeping my eye on a dial that wobbles a lot.

Bonus points if it also includes jumper cables with that battery. Having a portable jumper when your batter dies is insanely useful.

However, the model I have doesn't hold a charge forever, so I find that I have to recharge it every couple months or else it will be dead the next time I actually need it. An unfortunate flaw so I'd look for reviews that mention whether that's the case for any you look to purchase

[โ€“] OptimusPrime@lemmy.moonling.nl 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thats a thing (stand alone) on my list to purchase. Except I've bought a new car battery not longer than a year ago. So I guess that should hold up. Did I just jinxed myself?

[โ€“] Notnotmike@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah that's a jinx if I've ever heard one. Better buy two just in case...

I recommend the xaiomi one on amazon. Works great

[โ€“] OptimusPrime@lemmy.moonling.nl 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I have exactly that one, if you mean this one:

[โ€“] corm@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago

That's the one!
