/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable, neither is supporting people who actively want to kill those groups. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.

Fun will now commence.

I'm numb too. I'm having a hard time processing it. I woke up in a completely different country/world.

Yeah tbh I’m making plans to leave the country once my lease is up. Between the political leadership of the non-fascist party being demonstrably unable to consistently find their ass with both hands since, like 2012 at the latest, and the fact that so many people evidently pulled some Brexit-esque “protest vote” bullshit or whatever, this clearly isn’t a country that aligns with my personal values and ethics anymore, and I think this made me realize I’m just fucking done with it.

So yeah - good job, DNC. You fucked up so hard that I’m gonna drain by brain in some other country. You had one job. ONE. FUCKING. JOB. And you couldn’t fucking do it. This shit is categorically indefensible. Jesus tapdancing christ.

I woke up at 2 am and couldn't help but look. Couldn't get back to sleep until 4, but it's all just been 'how did this happen? How could Americans not see all those signs as bad?'

Because most of us are arrogant, short-sighted, stupid, greedy, and have no empathy.

At this point I know I need to move to a blue as fuck state, or maybe emigrate to somewhere with better enshrined lgbt rights, universal healthcare, and legal weed, like say Mexico.

(I'm kidding but only just barely.)

We are emigrating because we have that option. I wish I could take all of the good people with us. Especially the ones at risk, like the queer people and the brown people.

We are a minority. 🤷‍♂️

To be a serious Star Trek fan means you see way beyond countries and current politics.

That isn't something most humans are good at.

It maybe will always feel bad for us to exist in this uncaring universe where the majority seems to care only about what immediately affects them.

To have a kind and open heart maybe just has this cost. I wish I could offer more.

I was talking about that with @ininewcrow@lemmy.ca yesterday. So many Americans see Star Trek episodes where soulless computers run everyone's life or people are forced into suicide booths for the enjoyment of the elite or the Roman Empire runs the world with an iron fist and they think those all sounds like great ideas.

We survived 2000 (you know, not well), we'll survive this.

Though I say that with a lot less confidence and conviction than I normally do.
