NOT ENOUGH LABELS.

There's things there that I don't know what they are or what they mean and it makes me feel dumb.

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 37 points 4 months ago (2 children)

This is the comic of The Onion, it's a satire of political cartoons

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Satire sure, but also an actual political cartoon in its own right.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world -1 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Really?

Why isn't it labeled as such?

[–] GuerillaGorillas@lemmy.world 18 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (3 children)

Top right corner has it labeled from The Onion, actually, though it’s a pretty tiny font.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

On mine it's actually low res enough that onion isn't ledgable. I only know its Onion because I've seen his work before.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Oh I thought there was an onion there.

[–] modifier@lemmy.ca 8 points 4 months ago

The people down voting you are so proud of having spotted the satire in the OP, and yet...

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

...which was the style at the time.

[–] MindTraveller@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 months ago

Label maker 🅱️roke

[–] ImplyingImplications@lemmy.ca 25 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Who is that lady outside?? I need labels!

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 22 points 4 months ago (1 children)

How could you tell that was outside?

[–] Stovetop@lemmy.world 21 points 4 months ago

Because it's separated by a...uhh...what's it called? Dammit, why didn't they label it?

I'm going to need a label to understand this comment.

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

That's a pretty common joke Kelly's comics include. It'll be a totally normal part of modern life, like "social media" or "streaming tv" or something, and it'll be marked with an asterisk labeling it "(latest fad)"

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

What do they think we're geniuses or something?

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

They think we're in on the schtick.

[–] heavy@sh.itjust.works 10 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I thought this was purposefully making fun of Ben Garrison, but now I'm not sure.

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 15 points 4 months ago

Totally, this is the cartoon of The Onion. It's satire.

[–] frezik@midwest.social 7 points 4 months ago

I think the Kelly comics predate Garrison. Either way, most of them dig in hard to Poe's Law. This is on the more obvious side of most of them.
