Enough Musk Spam

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

MODERATORS

Watch how Tesla goes bankrupt because of one CEO's idiocy and greed and then blame unions for it. Tale as old as time.

Prefer to see it dead and Elon’s method of influence gone.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Unfortunately he'll still have hundreds of billions of dollars, even without Tesla, so his influence will never go away. He could lose 99% of his wealth and still be a billionaire.

Then the less respect he has from the general public, the better.

What do billionaires do with their billions in prison?

[–] dumbass@leminal.space 10 points 3 months ago

Use it to avoid going to prison.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Name one billionaire who has gone to prison.

Elizabeth Holmes, and her story is very similar: overpromise, underdeliver, boast, defraud, intimidate.

PS: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Stanford this guy too

Sooo, two? IIRC she didn't have enough time to build connections and she didn't know how to walk in billionaire shoes.

I can guarantee these pricks are untouchable.

[–] Gsus4@programming.dev 3 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

That's because billionaire means nothing. e.g. Jordan Belfort was almost a billionaire, but still went to jail like small fry.The untouchable ones are oligarchs, that is what people are implying and it is much scarier to have a 6-year-old messing around as one.

[–] Johnmannesca@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Not a billionaire, but Bernie Madoff got real close.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Madoff made the mistake of stealing from people more powerful than him. Billionaires always steal from poor people, and thus incur no wrath from people who could punish them.

[–] Ragnarok314159@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 months ago

Yep. Madoff committed the worst crime in America: messing with rich people’s money.
