Support (lemm.ee)

I've tried in multiple apps to rule app bugs out, but I keep getting an error (it disappears quickly, but something about the file dimensions maybe?). Other accounts on the same apps seem to work, so my best guess is that it's related to Lemm.ee somehow.

I've been made a mod of tolkien but it's not showing - yet it does show when viewed on other instances like lemmydotworld.

So this appears to be a bug with lemm.ee or my account.

Context: I wanted to move instances from lemmydotworld to lemm.ee, so I made myself mod on this account, accidentally removed it and then removed my original lemmydotworld account's mod status as well. And then another mod added me again for lemm.ee. But it wouldn't show. I did manage to transfer mod status for a different community without messing up though.

I was hoping you could help fix this.

This question isn't specific to lemm.ee, but any Lemmy instance with the standard web interface. Is there a way to make the postings on the home page more compact? For example, the fairly large image thumbnail takes up vertical space and makes for more scrolling to read the various postings. Not a big deal, but I like my experience to be more text-based and concise.

Edit: I just found the "themes" in the settings and found more compact settings. Nevermind.

I've looked through the history of threads in this help community, but didn't see this Q come up before.

I also notice someone saying on another instance that as a mod, it's indeed possible to pin by clicking the three dots under the thread / post. I even see an open github issue discussing cross-instance problems with pinning posts.

Still, here on this instance, it doesn't currently seem possible to pin in either of my two communities. If it were, I'd want to pin this welcoming post, for example.

EDIT: Thanks to @Terevos@lemm.ee for the solution-- it's as simple as going in to a thread, clicking the "three dots" in options, then clicking again "community" with the little pin symbol.

I don't see a report function either for communities or users.

Anyway, https://lemm.ee/c/adhd and https://lemm.ee/u/Puremeds and https://lemm.ee/u/buynembutalinjection only purpose seem to be to spam ads.

I created a community (!cricketcaptainfans), posted an intro message in it, allegedly there's a second post but none of the posts are visible anywhere - any idea what's happening/what I've done wrong in community creation?

Everytime I try to create a new community it always sent me back to the name part and when I do put in a name it just won't let me

I've been eager to establish my own instance, and I'm interested in migrating my account to it. Is this possible?

I am the moderator of a community on lemm.ee -- fullmoviesonyoutube. The other day I was able to upload a banner image, but I didn't like it much. Today, I am trying to upload a new image, but I get an error as soon as I Upload the file from my PC. I've tried multiple images, in jpg, png and webp formats - same error.

I tried re-uploading the same image file that I used the other day and it won't upload now either.

I've tried clearing my browser's cache but that didn't help. The image files are all less than 100KB and about 1000 x 800 px.

EDIT TO ADD: I'm doing this from my PC (desktop), in Firefox if that matters. Let me know, please, if there's any other way I could try doing this.

This isn't specific to lemm.ee, but I found a community called https://squabbles.io/s/technology

But I can't see any place on lemm.ee that lets me subscribe to it from my lemm.ee account. I searched for it under Communities, but it doesn't show up as an option.

what does one do if they forgot to verify their email for an account on lemm.ee? I can’t log into any android apps and the only way to log into the browser is to use the reset password option. I tried to go back and verify the email, but the link was over two weeks old. is there a way to resend the verification? any help is appreciated

I've noticed on most of my posts today the thumbnail is not appearing on lemm.ee - for example I've just posted https://lemm.ee/post/1477918 and there is no thumbnail but if I view the post on lemmy.world - https://lemmy.world/post/1733425 - there is a thumbnail so it only seems to affect this server.

The other posts I've made today the thumbnail appeared after I edited the post a few hours later (making no changes just clicking edit then save) but the post above this doesn't seem to work for.

This isn't specific to youtube links as one of the posts I made today was from the BBC.

I've noticed that my "points" that show up in the voyager and connect apps have reset both times I've deleted a comment I made. I don't care much, but I assume it's not the expected outcome.

So there was a bot issue over at !nba!nba@lemmy.world which spammed the community with 30-ish posts.

All of these were removed by the mod, or deleted by the bot and on Lemmy.world things are back to normal - https://lemmy.world/c/nba?dataType=Post&page=1&sort=New

However on the lemm.ee version it looks like these posts have not been removed and are still visible - https://lemm.ee/c/nba@lemmy.world?dataType=Post&page=1&sort=New

any idea what to do? this may actually be a bigger issue if these posts were harmful/offending

Latest test Memmy version on iPhone 12 Pro. It is almost impossible to pinch and zoom. Seems like a bug. Will check on where the image was hosted.

I have set up 2FA many times on other sites, but I can’t get it to work on Lemm.ee.

What usually happens: when I set up 2FA I get either a QR code to scan into an authenticator app or a get a key code that I can manually enter into the authenticator app.

What happens with Lemm.ee: it gives me a link that opens my password preferences. Options include my password app and other password vaults. My authenticator app (2FAS Auth) is not an option. I have tried this on a Mac and iPhone, and have no luck getting it to allow me to add a 2FA in the authenticator.

Link starts with “otpauth://”. I tried adding the part of the link with a long code between “secret=” and “&algorithm” to the authenticator, but that did not seem give me the right 2FA and I couldn’t log in.

Does anyone have suggestions to on how to get from the otpauth link to an entry into an authenticator?

I'd like to "merge" my mastodon feed with my Lemmy one. Since I'm used to the reddit-like GUI and I've never been a Twitter user, is it possible to do that from Lemmy, or ideally from the Jerboa app? Do you know if there are plans to do that?

I have been trying to eliminate my email (as it says it's optional) but once the field is blank and saved it always reverts back when refreshed. Also the sort preference doesn't stick either when changed and saved. Ty

Hello. I remember seeing an option to add a mod to my community but now I can't find that option. Has the path changed?

If I go directly to lemm.ee in the browser (Chrome), log in, and change the view to Subscribed, I often see posts from communities I am not subscribed to.

I am interested in subscribing to a community (!neovim@open-source.social) in open-source.social which appears to be a kbin instance. From lemm.ee there appears to be 0 posts when there is activity in that community. Is there a way I could view the posts from it? I know some kbin.social communities are viewable from here.

Hello! I saw there was a post here recently that was having an issue interacting with some lemmy.ml content. I'm currently experiencing what may be a similar issue - when I go to vote on a post in https://lemm.ee/c/memes@lemmy.ml the vote will not register. However, voting does work if I try to do it from an account in another instance. Any idea why this might be the case?

Was testing on the latest version of Thunder originally and got this error:

I tried again in my desktop browser (Firefox) to confirm it wasn't just a Thunder issue. If it is relevant, I also don't have this community blocked.
