Explore the California High Speed Rail route from above in an airplane to not only see how construction is coming along, but also to observe all of the terrain standing in the way of finishing one of the largest engineering projects in the world. Starting in downtown Los Angeles, we fly 270 miles north along the route through the Mojave desert and Central Valley.

I called to confirm the times at both locations and just had lunch there. It was delicious! Great prices too.

In the event of a power crisis, Geotes will be able to power all 300,000 homes for 42 days in Bakersfield. Premier resource management is converting A depleted oil field into geothermal power production.

What was once an oil and gas reservoir is now being converted into geologic thermal energy storage. This project is to store thermal energy within the oil reservoir using concentrated solar powered by parabolic troughs.

I just found Jeje's Mediterranean Kitchen in a gas station (Rosedale Hwy. at Gibson St.) and it looks really good. Has anyone tried it yet? It just opened recently.

Edit: typo

TL;DR: they're finally going to build the connector ramps for the eastbound to northbound connection and the southbound to westbound connection.

Construction starts Nov. 2024 with an expected completion date of June 2026.

U.S. Rep. Mike Garcia (R-Santa Clarita) announced last week that he has introduced H.R. 9308, which he has dubbed the “No Frankenrail Act.”

California is seeing record-high numbers of this fungal disease. Here’s why

"California in 2023 reported a record-high number of valley fever cases — a potentially debilitating infection caused by inhaling fungal spores in dirt or dust — and 2024 is on track to surpass that, state health officials said Tuesday."

Last year, Delano residents attempted to pass a stricter rent control ordinance that would be easy to enforce at the local level. The ordinance did not pass the City Council. Residents then moved on to the next step—gathering signatures from registered voters to get the Fair Rents Delano ordinance on the November 2024 ballot.

This idiot decides to pass a car in a blind turn (hence the double yellow line in the middle). Tragedy ensues.
