Yup, it started as a piracy website. Only in 2008 they had a company invest $4 million to properly license stuff. By 2009/2010 they were legal
The problem when you allow this is that sooner or later the sub is only self promotion and you can't find anything relevant anymore.
Reddit is even worse. When you delete your comment, it's not really deleted and still visible to the mods of the sub
You don't have to use their proprietary client to use their proprietary service. You can use a 3rd party client.
On my phone I use Solid Explorer as my file manager which also has cloud integration
Yes and they didn't just took the money and run when the game came out in an unfinished state where almost none of the promised features were implemented.
I mostly use Infinity for Reddit (where Jerboa for Lemmy clearly draws a lot of inspiration from)
Sometimes I also use reddit on my PC but the site is horrible there and the old site, while not as buggy, doesn't look great.
I usually just use Steam or Lutris.
Heroic is also pretty good though. Especially the UI

Bad enough that they covered that up for 50 years or so. They knew that the chemicals needed to produce PTFE (Teflon) are toxic but still covered that up and said they're harmless.

They shut down. Some of the staff died due to covid, some shoot each other in the Ukraine vs Russia war and the remain ones are kinda tired of it. Also hosing has became more expensive due to inflation and they aren't able to afford that anymore
