When they do it, it’s “subsidies” When we do it, it’s “investment”

The list of government incentives in the UK is long but If china is doing even more , that’s up to them right ? But it’s always implied it’s some kind of foul play.

EV sales in China have been boosted by government subsidies. which encourage consumers to trade their petrol-powered cars for EVs or hybrids.

But there is a growing backlash abroad against what some see as the Chinese government's unfair support for domestic car makers.

I think a lot of people will be shocked at how hard and fast they stamp on any popular movement.

You can see how they are going at Mangione. Ok, it’s Murder 1 open and shut - but they are trying to nail Terrorism in it and a bunch of other stuff .

Once they succeed, anyone who speaks for mangione can be considered a terrorist sympathiser.

If you’re a Terrorist sympathiser, you are now eligible for surveillance without judicial oversight under the Patriot Act .

Which in turn means if you go to protest and throw a rock, or push a cop, congrats you are now a fully qualified “enemy combatant” and they can do anything they want because you have no legal protections at all.

Questions for those currently studying for a degree (or teacher one for that matter) : do you know anyone in your class who, with 100% application, would not graduate?

Edit : 100% is arbitrary and silly. I mean to say “committed to acquiring the education”

Once you get the star fruit jam going it’s ££££ all the way.

Steak and Kidney pie is more enjoyable, but restaurants do Wellington as a bit of a flex, because it’s tricky to do it well.

Not sure what purpose this serves .

Any historian ought to know well that the bourgeoisie thrives on obedience to Power. Their skill and indeed their survival depends on riding both horses until the last possible moment before getting on the winner.

Modern history has provided institutional safe guards such as independent judiciary To keep this sort of thing in check, but successful capture of those institution has rendered them limp.

One should not expect to find allies against autocracy amongst current political class.

Golden passport and visa schemes have turned European Union (EU) citizenship and residency rights into a luxury good: with enough money, anyone can buy in.

Keir Starmer promised ‘integrity and honesty’. But his government is backing a last ditch effort to keep us in the dark about Sunak’s investments while he was prime minister.

It’s getting harder to prosecute federal corruption crimes in the United States. In a recent case called Snyder v. United States, the U.S. Supreme Court narrowed the scope of a key anti-bribery law.

I said yes please, and got my favourite beer.

Then he said the same thing to the next customer, and he got his favourite beer, which was different to mine.
