Please somebody correct me if I'm wrong:

Separate audio is rarely available on streaming sites like YouTube, so if you're ripping a song from it, you essentially are transcoding the files three times:

  • Encoding by the content creator
  • Extracting the audio from the the content
  • Encoding in the format of choice

So no matter how great the quality is at either of these transcoding ends, you are still transcoding in lossy format at least two times

It will create an echo chamber even worse than grandma being fed q-anon and other stupid conspiracy theories.

The beauty of movie and other art is being confronted by other people's mind. I don't want an AI to tailor make me my own little movie

I tried, and it never shows up in Connect no matter how.

Left: Connect Right: Wefwef. Same account.

The weird thing being that I'm sure that these communities were showing yesterday

Just so you know I still have this issue where connect won't let me subscribe to some specific communities / some subscribed communities don't appear on my left tab.

I thought that my .ca account was "safe" from this issue but it started happening this morning as well. (Same on .world / sh.j.w)

Fwiw thunder has the same issue, but wefwef works fine. So I sometimes have to resort to the web interface or wefwef to subscribe / view these subs on my subscriptions list

The Great Lakes are the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth by total area and are second-largest by total volume, containing 21% of the world's surface fresh water by volume.

Before 3pa were banned on Reddit I tried to convince people to join Lemmy, and the general consensus was that it was "too complicated"

Its oversimplified but yet I feel like the new generation never had to understand tech basics prior to enjoying it.

It's a good thing overall, but yeah.. Might be a bit scary too

Most (all?) Bravia series televisions have built in android TV and the interface is imo super slick and not bloated.

I have a x950h plugged in ethernet and I can stream Plex in 4k HDR DV without any issues. It's basically plug and play.
