Power supply of those 3.5" discs will be the main problem, as you can’t do that over USB.

Yeah I would have to come up with some other way to power the drives, the OWC enclosure has a power supply, but not sure I could harvest what I need. I'm going to have to open it up and see how useful it might be.

Another thought is this m.2 to sata adapter that I could put in the NUC5. I would still have to figure out power though.

thanks, yeah I've been looking into the ROCK Pi Dual/Quad SATA HAT but it doesn't seem super available in the US. I'd also have to buy a raspberry pi. Could be worth it though

Another thing to factor into budget is if the credits from your solar production can cover the service fee from your power company.

For example I have a ~30usd/mo base/service fee that can't be covered by solar credits.

Just something to keep in mind. Every utility company is different.

This seems like a really great way to grow a community. I like the intention behind it and as a community member I'm interested to see what others are interested in and where things grow. It make this the space feel inclusive and accessible. Feels like it's hard sometimes to give trust to others and give people the tools to create what they want. Anyway great idea.

I agree, I really like all the websites from this team. really nice aesthetic and great info. I just found them yesterday from another post on slrpnk. Most recipe websites are sort of trash.

All these recipes look great as well. Love how simple most of them are.

I really like the way threads work in cheogram. It feels like a cleaner and more natural way to have a conversation.

I just wish i knew anyone else in meatspace that used cheogram of xmpp for that matter.

I think its an interesting topic. Sometimes I wish there was a term for someone who critically thinks about what they consume/eat. Maybe there is and I just know the term?

Full disclaimer: I've been vegan for 20+ years now, but I'm not going to make the assertion that everyone who critically thinks about what they eat and the ethics of what they eat, are going to come to the same conclusion as I have and decide to be vegan. IMHO critically thinking about things is the most important part.

I think your goal of raising chickens for eggs *and * meat is a realistic one. IMHO including meat as a part of the egg process is necessary. I often see people trying to raise chickens for eggs but not meat and it seems complicated. You have to buy sexed chicks which generally is a part of the industrial meat complex (the very thing people are often raising chickens to avoid) and inevitably your going to end up with roosters even with sexed chicks. Then your spending all these resources on food for the rooster just because keeping it alive is more "humane". To me meat/death is just a part of the process, so why try and remove it.
