I’ve been a Reddit user for many years. It was a great run but I’m moving here. For now I’m missing quit a few favorite communities but that should improve with time.

That's a bummer but it is good to know.
I agree, it's great.
All hail Lemmy. I really hope it gets the critical mass it needs after these shenanigans.
I worked for a startup in the 90s, pre-enshittification, that wanted to empower micropayments on the web. Obviously, even when mostly "frictionless", users rejected the concept. Capitalism is going capitalize, but this is also the fault of users who demand "free".
Nailed it. This guy, like so many others, got burned trying to ride the Trump train. Now he's trying to brand himself as something else. What he is is whatever he thinks he needs to be in order to have a political career.
I was thinking exactly the same thing.
Yeah that is a real issue. I strongly agree.
I've had my eye on it for a while. Now that Reddit is getting super corporate anticipating their IPO, now may be its moment.
It's a good control but you hate the way they implemented that control. I get it. It's legitimate. I have to use Google for work so there is no escape. If I recall correctly (was many years ago), they wanted an SMS number before I could switch over to a proper authenticator.
