good news is that it looks like there's a neighborhood in the top left that could be demolished to make room for parking and additional lanes

same as the interstate highway. federally owned alignments, rails, signals, etc enable private operators to offer transport services based out of private yards

yeah, but Kenya can trade the livelihoods of indigenous people for the foreign currencies tourists bring. If the indigenous folks could create this much foreign currency, this wouldn't be a thing.

Does anyone mount a network resource with Android using SSHFS? I've tried all the apps on fdroid and couldn't get any of them to work.

I did get Termius from the play store to work, but it's UI is kind of annoying for browsing and is really meant for SFTP. Same for other twin panel managers. I don't necessarily want to copy files from the network resource to my device but i would like to be able to easily view and save to the resource. (like a network mount)

Has anyone done this? Any apps that can do this in a clean way?

Vast’s CSP 3.0 technology, demonstrated at a 1.1MW pilot plant in Jemalong in NSW, uses modular arrays of solar towers and receivers to capture and store energy from the sun and use it provide electricity and heat.

FERDA

According to the company, correcting the aim of the NSTTF heliostats using its software reduced tracking error to 0.33 mrad, surpassing the project target of less than 1.0 mrad. The software also measured the alignment of the mirror facets to improve beam quality.

Concentrated solar is great because it can collect more of the Sun' energy than PV AND can store it AND doesn't create toxic waste at the end of the life of the reflectors. It's weird that it's so much more expensive than PV.

Although wind and solar proponents still claim costs are falling, the reality is the opposite. Offshore wind developers, especially, are clamoring to renegotiate contracts they signed previously, including guaranteed price adjustments for increasing costs, and relaxing the domestic content requirement so they can claim the additional 10% ITC.

Despite spiraling deficits – almost $2 trillion in the fiscal year that ended this past October – green energy subsidies will be financed with still more government debt. With the increase in interest rates to normal levels, financing costs will soar, adding an estimated $500 to $800 billion to the bill costs, almost as much as the subsidies themselves.

I don't believe this. Green energy is "cheap" and "unlimited" and I cannot be convinced otherwise.

Chevron’s ambitious plans reflect its optimistic outlook on the industry and its confidence in the future of oil and natural gas. The $14 billion investment will be focused on various projects worldwide, including exploration, drilling, and infrastructure development. These projects will contribute to Chevron’s overall production capacity and help it secure its position as a leading player in the energy sector.

Chevron seems to believe oil and gas will continue to be profitable despite others' investing in renewables.

The company plans to add seven trains a week on the coal line by mid-December, from 21 a week. Another seven would be added by March, bringing the total to 35 a week.

Transnet is struggling to haul bulk commodities to ports due to a shortage of locomotives and spares, as well as cable theft and vandalism to infrastructure.

This is costing mineral exporters billions of rand in potential export revenues and mining groups have resorted to trucking coal to Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) for shipments to markets including Asia.

South Africa is a mess!

Studies have shown that nuclear power generates electricity without releasing significant amounts of greenhouse gases, making it an attractive option for reducing carbon emissions.

"Studies have shown" makes it sound like this is brand new information. I wonder if this means Germany will make like France,

The first operational wind turbine at South Fork Wind sent clean power to Long Island today. The project has completed the installation of two turbines around 35 miles off Montauk, with all 12 SG 11-200 DD Siemens Gamesa turbines expected to be installed by early 2024.

The energy produced is being sold to the Long Island Power Authority under the terms of a 20-year agreement.

The 130-megawatt (MW) South Fork Wind will be the US’s first completed utility-scale wind farm in federal waters.

Lawnguyland! Something my people have done that I am proud of!

The Shidao Bay plant in eastern Shandong province is powered by two high-temperature reactors cooled by gas rather than pressurised water, according to state news agency Xinhua

Think of how many renewables they could have made for all the monies wasted on this.

The scientists used lasers to fuse two light atoms into a single one, releasing 3.15MJ (megajoules) of energy from 2.05MJ of input – roughly enough to boil a kettle.

Why do we even study this? Renewables are the only way. This is a waste of money which is a finite resource.

Exxon forecasts production of 3.8 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) in 2024, from 3.7 million this year, as it bets on a lift from the Permian shale basin and Guyana.

Spending on new projects will expand to between $23 billion and $25 billion next year, with a range that has a mid-point spending of $24.5 billion annually from 2025 through 2027.

I wonder what the growth rate of oil consumption is.

  • It’s been reported minerals could value mine at $37 billion
  • China recently put export controls on the rare-earth elements

Ramaco Resources Inc. said it found two more rare minerals in a Wyoming coal mine, adding to its discovery of what the company has called one of the largest deposits of rare-earth elements in the US.

The mine that the metallurgical coal producer is surveying for rare-earth elements used in magnets also contains gallanium and germanium, two minerals that China recently put export controls on, Chief Executive Officer Randall Atkins said Wednesday in a Bloomberg Television interview. It’s been reported that the mine could be valued at as much as $37 billion.
