Now there's a wild idea. My first thought was that it must be loud as hell with the revolving cylinder right by your ear. Though this review mentions there is some novel mechanism that closes the gap between the cartridge and barrel. Now I really want to see one in person to find out how that works.
I second Discuit. It was started in response to the Reddit API shenanigans last June. It seems to have avoided the spam and instability that have plagued Lemmy (at least so far).
It's funny that they threw in the "environmentally friendly" angle. Nothing about building and launching rockets is environmentally friendly.
Maybe you can draw an analogy between decentralized services and decentralized government. The world has largely shifted away from monarchies and oligarchies in favor of democracies that intentionally spread power out among many people. You can argue that our economy needs to make the same shift for the same reasons. An Elon Musk or Tom Cook is analogous to an oligarch, with wealth at their disposal comparable to a nation-state.
