Family are all sick with viruses and one with tonsillitis. There are also other health related issues with certain family members which have been dragging on for a while now. I'm the sort of person who rarely gets sick, so I have to be the nurse while working my 5 days a week. It's hard and I'm not the best nurse if the truth be told, so I'm getting sick of the attitudes from people I'm trying to help. People aren't really themselves when they're sick so I'm just trying to be patient and tell myself that it won't always be like this.

My daughter has a new best friend and I haven't met her mum yet, so the girls have organised a get together for us at a local cafe so we can meet and get to know each other. It's kind of a blind playdate for the mums, lol. The cafe they've chosen is between where we both live and the food and coffee are excellent there. Apart from that I'll be making my weekly assault on Mount Washmore in the laundry, and continuing with my only occasionally successful attempts to declutter the house.

Sadly, I knew I'd find a fellow Aussie here and what you say is so true. It seems like the states have been dealing with all the baggage while federal governments have been merely looking for a taxi.

Wow, I missed all the drama! Was spending time in Aussie Zone reconnecting with people from the r/melbourne daily thread now that we've recreated our safe and supportive familiar community over there (the mods of Reddit decided to nuke our sub at short notice and we were devastated!) I came back here to this drama, and frankly I understand it fully after spending some time quickly looking at Lemmy world (I was told there was a Bluey community there, and as an Aussie I was interested in checking it out and looked through the posts, comments etc to get a feel of it). Hooo boy, that's definitely a different vibe, especially after the wholesomeness of Beehaw generally and my old submates. It's not overly harmful but not a vibe I'd like here. I left quickly. I support the decision you've made.

Where I am in southern Australia the tomatoes are ripe so that you've got to eat them within a week of buying. You can usually buy some ready to eat right now, or some that are a couple of days away from ripening, even though it's not really the season for them here at the moment.

It worked for me and I like it, thankyou.

On Beehaw I'm grateful for the positive vibe of the place in general. There's a lack of nastiness and negativity here which feels very comfortable. Others in this thread have mentioned the no downvotes and I have to agree to the extent that when I drop by other instances it kind of unsettled me to see it, I prefer life without it.

In life I'm grateful for the love of my kids, which makes me feel like I belong in the world. Also my job because I enjoy it and it gives me the means to support my family.

One thing I definitely won't miss is being downvoted for just asking a question!
