So how were they established?

[–] bartolomeo@suppo.fi 2 points 5 months ago (11 children)

That still doesn't answer the question. The second sentence in the Wikipedia article about the partition plan for Palestine is

On 29 November 1947, the UN General Assembly adopted the Plan as Resolution 181 (II).

so I'm not really sure how you got the idea that this was "just a proposal".

The article you linked says

The United States says an independent Palestinian state should be established through direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority and not through UN action.

which makes it even more unclear. Was Israel created through UN action or did they just steal the land and expel the Palestinians? Did they negotiate directly with the Palestinians in 1948 and arrive on the agreement to share the land according to the borders that existed before 1967?

If you (or anyone) actually have an answer, I'd be happy to hear it.

Wow good find. The revolving door in action.

If this bill fails we should all go long water and opt for physical delivery instead of cash settlement.

"Yes, seller of water futures, you have to deliver 800,000 cubic feet of water to my house. That's derivatives bruh!"

Seriously you have to talk to these finance bozos in the only language they understand- money. For some reason, "people need water (and housing etc.) to live" just doesn't get through to them.

So why does Israel exist?

[–] bartolomeo@suppo.fi 2 points 6 months ago

I still don't get it. Didn't this

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Partition_Plan_for_Palestine

give Palestine and Israel equal right to exist? It seems like Israel got all the benefits and Palestine none, it just keeps ceding (and getting stolen) more and more land to Israel.

If you can't say something nice [about Israel] don't say anything at all.

Oh you poor leftist, beholden to facts and history. Join the right, be free from the shackles of reality and coherence!

So then what was this about?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Partition_Plan_for_Palestine

Did it not create a Jewish state and an Arab state i.e. Israel and Palestine?

Crazy that the proposed solution to propaganda is banning media instead of investing in education that promotes critical thinking. Or maybe the idea here is "no propaganda except mine".

Israel identified the ring leaders of the October 7 event as Iranian military commanders who also happen to use an embassy as their base of operations to plan and execute their attacks.

I'm not sure if you've been paying attention but Israel says this about literally every target they want to bomb. Then they promise to provide "concrete evidence" later, never do, and eventually their claim gets disproved.

Gaza hospitals are terrorist bases, and that's coming from CNN who runs their stories by the Jerusalem office before publishing, and has a list of words to avoid in order to further Israel's narrative at the expense of the truth.

The list goes on but by parroting unconfirmed IDF talking points you are complicit in Palestinian genocide.
