It wasn't an issue before, only started a few weeks ago.

Pixel 7A running GrapheneOS. While there are other keyboard apps there that are Foss, none of them have worked out for me so far. I write in two different languages and don't want to switch between different layouts and such. So instead I have disabled Network access for these keyboard apps.

Based on other comments this seems to be an issue with all(?) keyboard apps.

The times ive tried it hasnt worked either. I simply rely on ublock origin and my pihole to protect me from the worsts out there.

Oh okay good to know, is there a way to change this though? Would be "cooler" to see the total amount imo.

No Starch HumbleBundle includes "How Linux Works", THE SysAdmin fundamentals book, 3rd edition.

Also includes the "DevOps for the Desparate", "Linux Firewalls: Attack Detection and Response with iptables, psad, & fwsnort", "The Linux Command Line, 2nd Edition", "Absolute OpenBSD", "The Book of PF" ( I think that's for the BSD's ), "Designing Secure Software", "Practical ulnerability Management", "Eloquent JavaScript 3rd Edition", "The Practice of Network Security Monitoring", etc...

IF you can't afford the Safari subscription, which I presume would include all of these,

AND you want thorough competence in the fundamentals

THEN you really probably want to know some of these ones.

I'd require the current edition of "How Linux Works" as the bedrock understanding of anyone who wanted to be working SysAdmin or DevOps, anywhere, any time.

This entire bundle is the same price as "How Linux Works" alone is, in my local ebook platform.

Our ignorance costs us, right?

We can reduce the price it makes us, and our world, pay, through more competent knowing of our fundamentals:

don't allow mistakes, or faulty-process, or malicious-actors, any leverage, you know?

Salut, Namaste, & Kaizen!

title really.. got a few games where this oldschool TV error shows instead of the actual main screen, the same happens with Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen. It's a super weird thing, as before this appears the actual loading screen is present, but this error-image just decides to slowly fade in...?

I had personally been looking for a way to control my Logitech C930e Camera on Linux, but was struggeling to find something that would actually connect to the camera AND be able to adjust the levels of zoom and focus. Fortunatly I was able to stumble upon this project called Cameractrls! It's a very simple and straight to the point software writtin in Python. If there are any additional good software like this please feel free to share below!

Edit; I tried installing LogiTunes via Bottles but it kept failing during install - glad i could find a replacement!

So I've got this Monstera plant thats been with us for a while but recently got attacked by these tiny tiny black insects that keep eating the leaves. I've actively tried to get rid of them as well as screening this plant away from the rest, but the insects seem to always come back. I've just read that it's possible to spray the plant gently with soappy water to help get rid of them, so I've just tried that - hoping to see better results. The uther leaves are more or less OK, but have some damage too. But what do I do with this leaf that's basically half gone? Does one cut of just the leaf part? The whole stem? What's the best thing to do in this scenario?

Appreciate any pointers 💚

Kind of curious what tech people own, everything from small to big tech. Assuming solarpanels are a given for a lot of peeps here, or maybe will be in the future. But what other tech do you own that you're happy with?

This is an absolute banger of an *unoffical album.

Am curious if Solarpunk music is a thing or not yet? If it is please do share some links to tracks to check out, am very cruious. If it isnt a thing yet, what type of music do you imagined it would be like? I found this on the Tubes, which is very relaxing, ambiance type of music. This is personally the type of music I have in mind when thinking solarpunk.

Hello! I recently listened to a podcast that talked about how storing media files in .av1 format is very efficient and storage-friendly. I've been storing my files in .mkv format, but now I'm considering using Handbrake or a similar service to convert all my video files to .av1 if it's more compressed than .mkv. So;

  • What format do you store your media?
  • What is the optimal way of storing media?
  • Do you use handbrake or similar services (feel free to suggest) to convert media files?

Hello, I'm relatively new to self-hosting and recently started using Unraid, which I find fantastic! I'm now considering upgrading my storage capacity by purchasing either an 8TB or 10TB hard drive. I'm exploring both new and used options to find the best deal. However, I've noticed that prices vary based on the specific category of hard drive (e.g., Seagate's IronWolf for NAS or Firecuda for gaming). I'm unsure about the significance of these different categories. Would using a gaming or surveillance hard drive impact the performance of my NAS setup?

Thanks for any tips and clarifications! 🌻

hot take?

Edit: got nothing against Ubuntu, it's Linux after all and that's what matters 🌻 Edit2: people took this very seriously for being a shower thought..

Welp I guess this is the perfect example of companies not deleting your credentials and account info when asking for it... I deleted my Notion account several years ago. And completely randomly today got an email from them about data retention, assuming this is one of those "important" emails they have to send out. Sadly, years ago I wasnt using email-aliases like I am today, so still stuck with them having my email. Fuck I hate this so much. Thought I'd just share this lesson, use alises my friends!
