I'd kill for a barebones subcompact sedan or hatchback EV. I'm sure if an automaker just focused on the strictly necessary stuff with a dashboard and seating similar to a 2010 Civic and no telemetry then they could bring the cost down to somewhere in the $20k to $25k range.

Please don't let apathy guide you on this. It matters we at least keep showing up to vote even if the most we get out of it is a higher likelihood of being summoned for jury duty.

What a stupid rule. The word "fuck" is great for expressing oneself.

Well it's either vote for the candidate least likely to fuck the world up, or possibly don't get the option to vote at all for next election.

I'm considering it more like a unit of pressure, like the standard force of a bullet over the stretched area made out of the skin of an obese child.

They should really talk about this when there isn't a possibly world changing election going on. It's almost like they're doing this to get people to waste their vote on a third party. Talk ranked choice voting the day after the election and don't shut up about it until the government listens.

Who's the self described Mexican propagandist?

It's easy to be patient when you have a backlog of games to go through. Paying full price for a game that still has Denuvo or other forms of DRM just isn't worth it for me. That said, I'm very sad Fantasian will be released with Denuvo soon after years of languishing in Apple Arcade.

It's really hard to see your point when the American judicial branch is so obviously beholden to party politics and special interests. Judges can be voted on a lifetime appointment by a simple majority of 51 senators, who are likely to represent less than half the voting population of the country. I really think it's time for clunkier and more archaic forms of democracy to make way for a more direct and agile way to run the government. At the rate we're going, generations-long problems like climate change will be addressed when it's too late.

What fucking trains do we have in America? Inter city passenger rail's been on life support for a century here. Just vote to keep the Nazis out of the White House.

There's a guy at work who wears a MAGA hat all the time. I often think about telling him I want nothing to do with him liking a fucking Nazi but have to be civil and polite because he also acts the same way. It fucking sucks I can't tell him what I really think because we're in a professional setting and it would be stupid to start something up.

Nah the stories are a little more hopeful. Like one about toasters that work like a Keurig machine and this refugee community learning how to hack them to work on unauthorized products after the company whose servers that authorize the bread goes bankrupt.

I decided to purchase store bought ice cream after years of just buying from places like Cold Stone. It seems to me most ice cream manufacturers have very soft ice cream now despite storing it in a freezer for a week straight. I could easily drop a spoon in the tub and watch it cut straight through to the bottom. The consistency is now kind of disgusting because it feels like I'm eating whipped cream instead of something that should be semi solid. So far I've tried Tillamook, Dryer's, and Target's in house brand and they all have that same mushy texture.

Before anyone suggests it's my freezer, I've kept it relatively uncluttered and everything else stays frozen just fine. I also make sure not to purchase those tubs of "Frozen Dairy Dessert". What happened? Is this some cost cutting measure or are customer's preferences really going to extremely soft textures?

It sounds way less offensive to those who decry the original terminology's problematic roots but still keeps its meaning intact.

I'm pretty sure they would. It's not like they'd like to see their seaside properties go underwater within their lifetimes.

Hi all, I've recently switched over to Linux Mint from Windows 10 and I'm having trouble installing a CH340 driver from Sparkfun. I've managed to unzip the contents and have it in this location: /home/user/Downloads/CH341SER_LINUX. I've tried running the files using the ./ command for both the ch34x.c and Makefile but ran into a bash issue which I'm stuck trying to figure out. Could someone please tell me how to make it work? I've already looked up a couple of different videos on Youtube but they kind of skip the explanation of how to install this driver on Linux in favor of Windows and MacOS.

Please see the attached image for the response I get in the terminal.

UPDATE: It turns out I had a bad micro USB cable. Most of the ones I was using to connect to an ESP32 board were charge only. Mint apparently had the driver for this all along. Thanks for the help everyone.
