me too, but it still didn't work. :/

[–] RossoErcole@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago

yeah it showed on lspci but not on rfkill. It reset by itself at a certain point, dunno how or why.

[–] RossoErcole@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago

I too have the Intel card because the killer one had shitty software, how do I shut down fastboot fully???

[–] RossoErcole@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago

didn't register the wifi, after a few attempts with a live usb stick (where the same thing happened, so no fix there), I got back into the mint installation and it worked

[–] RossoErcole@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago

it's a laptop :(

[–] RossoErcole@kbin.social 4 points 10 months ago (2 children)

it didn't work, but after a bit it started working again, pretty wild

Yesterday night I had a problem with a usb port and the touch pad not working, I restarted the system a few times and switched back and forth with windows (which is installed on a different drive), they didn't work even there. After a few restarts the usbport and the touch pad came back to life, but the wifi stopped working. When I type wifi in the terminal I get: wifi = none (no device)
This time the problem is only on linux though.

Where/What should I check?

It was but it got reenabled, I disabled it again but it still doesn't work damn. I'll post the Intel I gathered on the Linux mint forum (I did in the past but now I have more information)

[–] RossoErcole@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I've tried. After suspension but before modprobe the wifi is not available, after modprobe it is there, but is disabled and cannot be enabled.

Yeah, thanks for the help even if you don't know much. I get stuck on the first command where I get this error:

rmmod: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod-module.c:799 kmod_module_remove_module() could not remove 'iwlmvm': Operation not permitted
rmmod: ERROR: could not remove module iwlmvm: Operation not permitted

modprobe: FATAL: Error running remove command for iwlwifi

how do I check the name? because iwlwifi doesn't work

[–] RossoErcole@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (8 children)

It doesn't work, should it look like this the script?

#!/bin/sh
[ "$1" = "post" ] ## exec /usr/sbin/modprobe Intel Corporation Wireless-AC 9260
[ "$1" = "pre" ] ## exec /usr/sbin/modprobe -r Intel Corporation Wireless-AC 9260
exit 0

EDIT: should the name be something like wlp62s0 ??? I'm going to try it

[–] RossoErcole@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago

I've thinkered with this problem in the past, so I believe I did try restarting the network service, but I'm not sure I did

Hi, this is a long lasting problem that I didn't really manage to fix when I started using linux (Mint, Cinnamon). But now that I've been using it regularly for half a year and I have more experience in fiddling around, I'm trying to get it resolved.

Whenever I suspend the laptop (or close the lid, which does it automatically) the Wifi and sometimes an external monitor don't work anymore, I don't know what the problem is. The wifi is fixed by powering on and off again. To fix the monitor sometimes even powering off and on again didn't fix it, I usually waited for the next day and it worked again.

I've no idea of how to fix this (Linux Mint forums didn't help at the time)

Laptop is an MSI GS65-Stealth-Thin-8RF running Linux Mint, with Cinnamon Desktop

Hi, I'm not the most expert user, but I've been messing with my latest linux install for a few months. I costumized the look of the GRUB, but whenever the kernel gets updated and the grub.cfg gets regenerated, the classes of two entries do not generate (efi and submenu), leaving the entries with no icons (which are determined by the class of the entry).

How do I make it so they automatically generate, instead of me modifing the .cfg everytime the kernel is updated?

I'm on linux mint, 21.2 Cinnamon.

Hi, I've kind of stopped using kbin, the reason being that every time I go on this website, it asks me to relog in, even though I've selected remember me last time that I did log in.

I use a home made password manager so the password is complex and I don't remember it straight away, making it quite annoying. Is this a common problem? I have it both on the phone and on my PC, in one I use the duck duck go browser, in the other I use brave

So, I have some doubts about a few things, if they are even possible/if they are working as intended/if they are coming soon.

1- Is it the intended beheaviour that the numbers of subscriptions seen from kbin and seen from Lemmy differ?

2- Is there any way to search for a username?

3- When searching for communities, will there be a way to filter/order by nuber of Threads/Comments/Posts?

4- I prefer in my home to look at content I've subscribed to, is there a way to set it as my preference to not look at the ALL page, but subscribed page instead?
