Yes, the driver is 6 months old. It can also run Overwatch 2 at 100+ FPS in some areas. For 6 months, that's staggering performance.

No, no. I have nothing to do with any kind of Linux dev unfortunately. I do want to start learning Vulkan though. XD

I mean CUDA is probably never coming to Nouveau/NVK. Never say never still, the current focus is definitely on gaming though.

Wait till you see MGS V at Ultra running at 60 FPS stable if I manage to capture it. No bugs or glitches included. I'm amazed myself.

The only way to properly use NVK now is Arch Linux or something based on it. Ubuntu doesn't even remotely have the necessary packages yet. On Optimus (running with both GPUs -AMD and Nvidia - on) everything works splendidly desktop-wise yeah. On MUX (meaning running only on the Nvidia GPU on the laptop) nothing works properly, so be warned.

It only exposes Vulkan 1.0 which means only DXVK works and up to version 1.5.1, not later. Also, Rise of the Tomb Raider was extremely slow when I tried it so some major optimizations have to be done as well I think. Beyond that it's perfectly usable.

The driver is just beginning to be developed. It's a miracle it can do this already. In 1-2 years it should be be immensely better, I would say, at this rate, comparable to the proprietary drivers of Nvidia.

Serious games are a genre. So like education games, brain training games. These are called Serious Games. This is a traditional Action RPG with the aim to make the players think. :)

Hello, this is the second time I'm posting for this project and I hope someone will be interested in it. :)I am making an Action RPG called Reverse Module. All the ideas I currently have are on Codeberg.I also have a Steam page for it.

The game has to do with Utopia/Dystopia balance and it aims to present some ethical dillemas (combined with choices) that will make anyone playing think into how an actual Utopia could be achieved. In the process I hope to make the world a better place, even if a little.

The story begins in a city called Visthansia, where people can have two microchips on them. One of them doesn't allow them to hurt other people while the other calls the police if they're in trouble. These microchips are not mandatory and people get paid a UBI for having one on or double the money for both.

The game will be made in Godot, we will use Reallusion CC4 for the characters (in Windows since there is no decent Linxu alternative) and the Terrain Plugin for Godot 4. Also if something is available in the Godot Asset Library, and is of use for the project, it will also be used.

The GDD, code and assets of the project will be licenced under GPL2. Please let me know if you are interested. :)

My personal background is on coding for games, mainly gameplay. Ii have a degree in Electronics Engineering with a Master's in Graphics Programming and AI. I have been developing games for 20 years now, whether as a hobby or professionally. My aim with any project is to challenge the player's world view or at the very least help the player in some way. My current job is on Brain Training games for people with Alzheimer's Dementia etc.

Having said that, this is not a serious game, this is a traditional game with the goal of making players think.

Underrated comment lol.

More videos of older games coming soon. :)

A bonus part since I realized Windows optimizes everything for gaming out of the box. I rerun some tests even on Windows though and if the difference was more than 3% I included the higher score.

Kernel: linux-amd 6.6 from AUR

Drivers: mesa-tkg-git from ChaoticAUR

Hope you enjoy it! :)

Lina replaied to me on Mastodon and said it's not usable yet, so I'm gonna have to wait to properly test gaming on an M1.

Just ordered an M1 Mini Mac and was wondering. Does Vulkan work on it? Thinking of testing some games on it. :)

I think if you've connected to the net while installing you're done for. XD

Makes sense. I have great hope for NVK, the open source Nvidia Vulkan driver, in 1 or 2 years. Perhaps then, things will be the other way around. :)
