Apparently the parts of Twitter that run on Google Cloud are the parts dealing with safety. moderation, and anti-harassment. Musk loses nothing but Twitter becomes an even worse place than it currently is.

Each Warrior can only work on one project at a time. You can spin up multiples and have them process different projects. Just remember to use "bridged" instead of "NAT" on the virtual adapter so they each get a unique local IP address.

Not sure. I'm leaving mine running for as long as possible to get what can still be archived. When some subreddits come back on the 15th the process will pick up. Then it is a dash until the API dies.

I wonder if this is because many people on Twitter just automatically block anyone with a blue checkmark (paid) when they see a response and the trolls have their feelings hurt so they run to Musk shouting about how they paid to be heard so he should force people to unblock them. That's the kind of childish argument I would expect.

I think that is just a happy coincidence for Musk. The park of Twitter hosted on Google is the part dealing with harassment and safety. Removing that means more money to piss away but also amplification of hate speech and trolling. I bet the EU will try to smack Twitter with another fine bigger than the bill for Google because of this.

McGinty's work includes comics for Invader Zim and Adventure Time, along with his creator-owned series Welcome to Showside

Ian McGinty, a comic book writer and artist, died earlier on Thursday, June 8.

“We lost our son, brother, and best friend,” wrote his mother (in a post shared by a family friend). At time of writing, his mother did not disclose an official cause of his passingg, instead using her words to eulogize her son. “Ian was the kindest person to walk this earth,” she continued, “an extraordinary artist, and lover of animals. [...] We will always love you, Ian. May your gentle heart carry on in the lives of so many you have touched along the way.”

Born May 6, 1985, McGinty has provided art and writing for comics based on various American cartoons such as Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, Nickelodeon’s Invader Zim (and its Netflix movie Enter the Florpus), and Frederator’s Bravest Warriors. In 2015, production company Modern Prometheus (co-founded by Z2 founder Josh Frankel) optioned McGinty’s creator-made comic book series Welcome to Showside into an animated pilot. In addition doing art for the pilot, McGinty wrote it and voiced the lead character Kit. Ahead of the pilot’s release, he told the Hollywood Reporter the experience of bringing his own series to another medium was “absolutely mind-boggling and an experience unlike anything else I’ve ever done before. [...] I can’t wait for everyone to see this world and the characters living in it!”

Spinning circle after clicking the Sign Up button? That has been my experience with multiple sites now.

I don't think so. I've been trying to find a tool to export as much of a site as possible but haven't found that yet. Bulk Downloader For Reddit, or BDFR might do the tick but I don't have an instance running yet to see.

I believe it is to prevent getting your IP blocked. At least that is what I got from the FAQ.

The ArchiveTeam has the ArchiveTeamWarrior project which is a small virtual machine or Docker instance that will help index and archive various sites based on need. For instance a big focus is on Reddit right now before the API access gets pulled or too many sites go dark permanently. This tool uses spare bandwidth from multiple locations (everyone running the tool) to not hit IP blocks due to rate limits or other issues that occur when trying to access as much of the site as possible.

Archive team is not affiliated with the Internet Archive (Archive.org) although Archive.org hosts the content. This is then made available via The Wayback Machine.

Hard pass. Meta doesn't need any more of my data.

I worry about Discord imploding because everything is behind the walled garden and difficult to extract unlike a forum board or playlist. The landgrab with account renames will be an interesting test for them.
