I think it’s either a bug or related to server load. I made a post on this community noting the same thing. It’s like instances are not communicating with each other right now.

I looked at the same post from 4 different instances and got four different results in both comment count and votes.

From the server it was originally posted on (currently at 9 comments): https://lemmy.ml/post/1244889

lemmy.world (8 comments): https://lemmy.world/post/112477

beehaw.org (10 comments): https://beehaw.org/post/542091

I just made a similar post of my own on this community. I’m seeing the exact same thing. It’s like instances are not speaking with one another properly right now.

I posted this same post on r/redditalternatives and got a similar response, that lemmy.ml is going through it right now and causing sync issues.

Just makes me paranoid that whichever instance I browse Lemmy from, I’ll be missing some content.

Take a look at this same post, from four different instances:

This just doesn’t make sense to me. I thought the entire point of all of this was that you get the same content regardless of which instance you’re on. But clearly, I’m seeing wildly different results. Why?

I used a site to find a Lemmy instance closest to me, and created an account. I’ve noticed however, I cannot access certain communities which are hosted on other instances. Example:

My server of choice is lemmy.reckless.dev. I want to subscribe to either apple_enthusiast@lemmy.world or apple@lemmy.ml. However, I get a 404 error when trying to access this from my instance (https://lemmy.reckless.dev/c/apple@lemmy.ml). I also get no results if I go to lemmy.reckless.dev > Communities > All and enter “Apple”.

What am I doing wrong? Is the instance I chose just not working correctly?

I doubt my backwards ass state will allow this but I’m nonetheless glad to read this headline!
