But aren't these key pairs generated per session and/or per contact? So once you switch to a more secure / auditable client this only matters when communicating with people on whatsapp. But they presumably have a backdoor in their app for the NSA anyway.

Is that actually true? I've looked this up a while and it said it's basically overblown or urban myth (wiki). Basically we've been drinking rainwater forever (I know it's not pure) and you get so much stuff through food that it might lead to deficiency but not quickly.
It's per kg of body weight. So if you weigh 80kg (176lbs) then rapidly drinking 7.2L of water has a 50:50 chance to kill you - I think.

Thanks! That is really my only impression, Arthur, even though an expert in Muggles, sees only amusement value in muggle tech. That's why I'd think there isn't really any significant trade possible. Wizards can just create anything with magic. Except maybe land. So the exchange rate would drop if you'd try to trade significantly more. Just my speculation of course :)

It's really impossible to know what you mean here, because conservative should mean to keep doing what works: They should be social democrats (what worked to build the US e.g. Nixon lol). So we shouldn't use that word any more. True conservatism would be more left wing than democrats today.
The GOP has become a reactionary or "paleo-conservative" which is really a misnomer too. What they really are now is a theocratic fascist party. But really they have no values at all except power and hate and inequality.
There are no real centrists, there is no center here. They are really corporatists who are willing to play politics in order to please the big capitalists or plutocracy. They love trump because they can keep cutting of left wing politics and not have a platform. In foreign policy they are fascist as well (american exceptionalism, a belief in inequality based on identity).

The US is indeed in a very good position, having only two borders and two oceans between everyone else. They just need to get Mexico to mine their southern border, while they mine theirs.
But Europe, Russia, China, India have plenty of them and won't be able to escape refuge streams or conflicts. Large parts of India might become uninhabitable. Food prices are going to fluctuate. Global trade will become unstable or collapse, disabling the complex globalized industrial economy. Nuclear war is very likely. People still don't know what's coming.
