@ampersandrew Just use Heroic Launcher, you get to enjoy whatever Epic games you have, without having to use their launcher. Plus it works with GOG games as well.

@Masimatutu Agree with you, it definitely should be an individual choice rather than a collective one, instead of users having to decide which instance they want to be on based on whatever drama is happening currently.

@InterSynth Exactly, people need to understand companies are there to make money.

@stopthatgirl7

@Burp Agreed, bots might not be the best content, I'm not a fan, but if it drives engagement then does it really hurt at the moment?

@LambLeeg @Strangle

@infyrin imo you're contributing to Lemmy just by being here, lurking is perfectly fine, you don't have to actively participate.

@ersanmartin Honestly probably not, but it doesn't immediately have to either. In my opinion it's already a viable alternative to Reddit, so that's already a win.

Kbin & Lemmy (and others) can just keep developing and maturing as a platform, while Reddit keeps making bad decisions in the future because you know they will, and it'll be there, for those who want to come over.

@sota2077 When I first came over to Kbin that's the thing I got hung up on, everything else I got used to quickly. There's plenty of smart people in the Fediverse, I'm sure someone will come up with a solution.

@metic

@SeatBeeSate So what you're saying is you're tired of crappy conversations.

@ryknow replying to you on kbin! Federation is really nice!

@tchambers @Jcb2016

@PabloDiscobar Or, it could do both, AI can recommend you tags, but you can select or enter in a custom tag.

@asteroidrainfall @astrsk

@Defaced Agree, I don't think Reddit was every likely to die from the protests, in that sense it wasn't a success. However, the fact that viable alternatives exist and more will pop up because of the protest makes it a success in my book.

The protest planted the seeds, it might take a while to see the fruit.

The blackout probably won't result in Reddit failing, but he has to realize that if he keeps this up, it's only going to take some aspiring programmers/designers some time to develop more Reddit alternatives, and when one of them becomes viable, down goes Reddit.
