Cool, any idea where i can get a list of instances to try?

i went and searched for a community on Lemmy. Found it, but was logged out so I couldn't create content... tried to login, it says "logged in" in the lower left, but I'm not as it still says "login" at the top right.

I tried to find the same community on kbin, and it doesn't exist. I assumed that if lemmy.world could see it, kbin.social could as well, is that not the case?

What am I doing wrong?

I'm all for coming into the office, but I'm no longer commuting on my own dime. You want me in the office, for some messed up reason, my commute is on the clock.

Anyone know where this is? It sort of looks like something you'd see on the Mayo building in Rochester, but I doubt they have death fighting a doctor.

scratch that

I just google mayo art, and the art on the side of that building was more dark iron looking material.

What device are you using? Perhaps its something with my google device not wanting me to use firefox.

I've tried using the firefox shortcut on my phone, and it's less than great (imho). I can't type replies, it goes all janky, freezes up, won't go back to the home page, etc. Virtually unuseable.

Right, but if they are training all new AI on shit they find online, like this comment, wouldn't that pollute that dataset, considering I generated this comment with AI?

This has been discussed elsewhere, and by people smarter than I, but chat bots are going to start learning from other chat bots and it's going to be less and less reliable over time, no?

Like there is an internet BEFORE ChatGPT, which is about as reliable of data as one could hope to find, and then there is a post day one chatgpt, which the data is already getting polluted by random LLM gibberish. How is google's webscraping going to know if the data it is getting is legitimate human being thoughts, or just random madeup shit from a LLM?

I'd love to deploy my own instance of either kbin or lemmy, but a ten buck a month price tag is a bit steep (imho). I'll wait until there are better guides for hosting my own.

Care to elaborate on what makes this better?

Can I block/unsub certain magainzes from other fedis? For example I am getting a lot of .de content, and I can't read the language, and would rather not see it.

How am I notified if someone replies to my post? I think i've seen a few replies, but it doesn't appear to notify me.
